Have to wonder why the Williams can't get out of their own way with a Mercedes P/U. :?

Ferrari’s secret is probably in the ERS deployment. The high altitude doesn’t seem to affect their power at all unlike last year when oil burning was an issue.
Do they not also provide the same ERS to the other teams though? I thought it was in the regs that they had to have all the same gear nd mappings

That seems to be a cracking lap from Verstappen

I have to think someone's going to go faster than 1:14.9.

Last year's pole was 1:14.75 IIRC.

Didn't count on Valtteri hitting the barriers.

I have been wondering the same. It’s obvious the Ferrari customers are not seeing the same benefit as the works team. While the hardware might be the same I suspect the engine modes available aren’t the same.

Yikes. Nasty looking crash there from Valteri. Should be an interesting race tomorrow. I think Max will have a very hard time keeping the lead at the start with the Ferraris right there.

Carnage into turn one with that front row :]

I think Bottas binning it kept Leclerc in P2. Hamilton was on a good lap and I'm sure Vettel would have had a chance at beating him.

Leclerc very lucky there he could have been starting 5th or so.

Dunno about Max doing a purple sector 3 under yellow flags l, should probably get a penalty but we all know he won't

I think you'll be right this time. Someone up front is going to have a miserable lap 1 tomorrow (if not multiple people).

No of course not. The stewards would be tarred and feathered if he did.

Erm, how does Max get away with that.
Everyone backed off and Max comes steaming through with Bottas sat in the barriers.
I thought after Nico did a similar thing you had to visibly slow down under double yellows?

Also if bottas needs some new parts then he might have a penalty and Hamilton could potentially get the WDC after all - still unlikely though

Because he is the golden child, and stewards have no cojones, how do you go purple under double yellows and get away with it - this should be a penalty not just deleted lap for such blatent disregard for flags

Has Bottas crashed more than usual this year? That's the impression I get but could be wrong

I don’t think there was actually a yellow flag after Bottas crashed. Which is again poor from Masi

Horner in damage limitation already - clearly there were yellows as everybody else slowed down

Vettel said there was double yellows

i still think bottas's pace has looked better overall than the last 2 seasons, but this is now his 3rd crash in qualifying or the race that he has wrecked his car. He never did this once in qualifying or the race during his 4 years at Williams. I wonder why he seems to have done it a bit more recently?

Yeah he says no yellows and that Hamilton didn't lift. Vettel says there was yellows.

Jack Aitken's view...

Did hamilton complete his lap before the yellow? Looked like it. Was it any better than his first lap?

yea i thought their reaction time to get them out was pathetic. They should be observent enough to do it in a second or two. i think a fw cars past bottas before they were out. Not good...

If there were no waved yellows this is a disgrace

No... clearly yellow flags when Verstappen went through

I think some will have slowed down as a reaction to what happened rather than the yellows.

What kind of penalty would Verstappen get? Just cancel the lap or a grid drop?

Not sure he should have pole removed, but a fastest section in final section must surely have some kind of penalty.

I understand Masi is so angry about it he has asked Horner's permission to go down to the RB garage to wave the black & white at Max. As long as it's not going to upset Max that is.

Actually would be surprised if gets a penalty, no matter how obviously deserved it is... Be interested to see the Hamilton side of things

Yeah looks like waved yellows but no yellows on the track board which is weird. Silly mistake from Max as he was already on pole and he should get some sort of penalty

Yup they already showed a video with a yellow flag clearly being waved as he goes through... Why lie?

You do have to wonder. Anyway, Ferrari are saying that the yellow light on the dash came on before that final corner in both Ferrari's.
