He also said he was going to go and protest at the dolphin slaughtering caves. I doubt Mercedes would have let him go to Tokyo.

I think I was just part of a world record attempt for how many F1 fans you can fit in a train carriage.

As far as I can tell from Weather Underground it's a bluebird day in Suzuka today.

Will be a very green track though.

How do you run wide having just come out of a slow chicane going through a sweeping corner like that?

Horner said it might've been wind related (talking the atmospheric type wind, not bodily)

Magnussen same corner.

Maybe there is something going on there.

Oof! -- the qualifying pace of this Ferrari car...

And a pristine lap from Mr.Vettel.

it's not hard when the Ferrari has probably a second a lap more than the Mercedes in quali mode...I've said it many times, there is definitely something very funny (i.e blatant cheating) with that Ferrari engine setup. And, I am more than convinced that the FIA knows but refuses to do anything about it because of "competition" and crowd/TV attendance and $$$$$$....

to put it succinctly, Mercedes went 0.4 second faster in Q3 (over their Q2 times) and Ferrari a whopping second faster than their Q2 times...that's half a second on the Mercedes and probably 50 bhp in engine power in quali mode...that's a *massive* difference...2nd edit: actually, it's probably even more than this, since the Ferrari is still not the best chassis in low/high speed corners and the Mercedes is almost certainly pulling back time there.

Ferrari a monster in qualifying and with absurd power, but now pretty decent through any type of corner it seems.

Merc had a big race-pace advantage. I heard a shocking stat from commentary that this race has never been won from the second row - really?!

I give Mercedes a good chance of being the first tomorrow then.

Impressive from Ferrari. They are really in dominant form since the break. Just impressive to see. And for Seb, this was the best he's looked in qualifying in quite some time. Absolutely on it!

We'll see if Mercedes have more to give in the race but for Lewis this will be a tough one. He'll start behind Valteri and Suzuka is not an easy race to overtake. Mercedes will have to execute strategically.

Albon was also impressive; matching Verstappen in qualifying. Awesome performance from Alex!

McLaren are well and truly the best of the rest. Happy to see this bounce-back year from them.

Do Williams have a front wing to use, that is the question?

Shame Alex set the time second, having matched Max it would have been good to see him start ahead.

Tried staying up but I fell asleep during the build up show. Got the recording on now and hoping I’m still awake when the race starts!
