Remined me of the shambolic scenes at the Texas spring race in nascar back in April. I could see it happening and was laughing at disbelief that this situation was happening.

So my questions to you are as follows.
What should be the consequences of the last lap of qualifying be.
Who should be punished?
Should everyone be thrown out?
General thoughts On the whole situation.

I thought this incident was absolutely fine. It was just a freak that eight cars didn't make it round, we've had it in the past when maybe one or two cars haven't made it to start their lap. Getting a tow does not take priority over actually being able to start your lap within the session time, so certain teams and drivers got their strategy wrong and messed up.

The drivers that didn't make it round in time to start their lap ended up not getting another run in so the punishment is already there and it's self-policing.

So yeah, there is nothing to see here, qualifying worked exactly how it is supposed to and the cars are lined up in fastest lap order out of all of the legal, completed laps that occurred in that session.

The last two minutes would not have been a problem except that three drives did not have a "banked" lap at the start of the session due to Kimi's crash. If you don't have a banked lap, then you better make sure that you get a good one in draft or no draft.

It starts when the teams expect to have one last lap, soft tires, everything executed perfectly to put in that screamer of a lap. But as Mike Tyson once said "everyone has a plan until you get punched in the mouth".

You would expect what is touted as the premier racing series as having people capable of adapting quickly to the situation and changing plans. The so-called strategists should have been screaming on their respective radios for the drivers to do anything and everything to go quickly immediately.

And maybe the FIA should institute a simple rule, such as "if you intend to go slow, then you must form a single line to the left (or right). Because intentional or not, some drivers were very guilty of blocking. Yes, everyone was going very slow, yes it was at the beginning of the lap, but it was still blocking.

Yeah, I'm very surprised that both Sainz and Hulkenberg escaped without a penalty today. I thought it was very clear that they were both blocking the Ferrari's behind them from advancing.
