Ferrari played a blinder then, sacrificed one car to get the win.

That is the most deserved win in quite a while.

I wonder if someone didn't lift through the yellow flag zone.

Mercedes had the better race car and so locking out the front row ended up being extremely important for Ferrari.

A fortunate yellow flag there at the end. Congratulations to Leclerc, felt like fate this weekend after what's gone on. Still not sure what Ferrari are playing at with strategy, but its looking more and more like Vettel is finished at the Red team.

Gutted for Norris at the end, McLaren will be hurting from this. Renault must have been at the peace pipe when they cooked up Ricciardo's strategy, that was never, ever going to come off.

What a bonkers finish! Everything from 5th downwards just went topsy turvy

Well done Charles, it has been coming for a while now

The timing tower on the left seemed to show Albon overtaking Perez, then giving the place back, then overtaking Perez again before the finish. I'm only guessing because their names swapped a few times

I really don't think Leclerc won because Ferrari sacrificed Vettel, Leclerc won because he fastest all weekend! close at the end though.

Another solid, strong and entertaining race, I'd say.

Formula 1 has been in a real good spot over the last 5 or so races.

Giovinazzi throwing it away all by himself.

Norris bad luck - again!

Leclerc fantastic.

Albon strong fighter.

Albon is a rookie though driving the Redbull for the first time. He showed some very good race craft in the second stint and in fact was lapping only a few tenths from the Mercedes at the end. He got stuck in the DRS train at the beginning and couldn't make any progress but all and all I think it was a promising drive from him. As he gets used to the car he will get better. Already a massive improvement over Gasly imo. I was quite impressed by his drive actually.

i bet that the fact that Noris is DOTD are from votes of pity just because of the retirement. It really should have been Leclerc He was really solid, but that is how good that McLaren is IMO. He was pretty much totally unchallenged by anyone the whole race.

Not really because Hamilton got by Vettel at the start but then Vettel just breezed past on the straight.

Well done Leclerc on his first win. Much deserved, he was the faster Ferrari all weekend.

Mercedes probably won't be too disappointed with a double podium considering Ferrari were quicker here.

I think Ferrari jumped the gun a bit too quickly when pitting Vettel and that cost them.

A good first outing at Red Bull for Albon, he should be pleased with himself.

I expect a similar race at Monza with a Ferrari front row lockout and Merc with the race pace advantage with a tight race to the finish.

Well done Leclerc, you really did deserve that one.

Good solid race today. Hats off to Albon for bringing it home in 5th, I wonder what Max could have achieved if it wasn't for the blunder going into turn 1.

Absolutely gutted for Norris.

Yes, I was also impressed too. But he also got a black and white flag which you hardly ever see. My point was that I thought Kvyat was more impressive given the car he was in and the fact he started behind.

Sometimes I think the DOTD award is just a popularity contest similar to the fan boost in FE.

They had to pit Vettel to protect him from the undercut but alas it was to no avail anyway.

First lap incident was horrible. Those SC laps definitely helped Ferrari and obviously removed another threat with Max crashing out.

Vettel had a very mediocre race with locking up after too much but keeping Hamilton behind and cooperating with the team of not holding Charles for couple more laps probably was the best thing he did this weekend for Ferrari . Sadly Kimi race was over after the first lap but midfield was very good.

Albon has some serious racecraft, no question. Let's see what sort of raw pace he has in the remaining races against Maximum Verstappenen.

In terms of safety, the FIA have to ensure that all is a good as it can be at the circuit.

As for the emotional reasons for racing or not, I would find it hard to believe there's a single racing driver who would want a race meeting to be cancelled on the back of their untimely death. Therefore, FIA safety checks permitting, the rest of the weekend should all go ahead, F3 and F2 included.

Just my opinion.
Any thoughts on gravel traps? The car would then not come back on track?
There use to be a gravel trap there but that caused it's own problems.

I agree. Not sure if they showed it on the main feed but Perez tried to give him the position at La source so he could get him back on the run to the hill but Albon didn't bite and waited and that was the difference. There were also some very good lunges on different drivers, pretty Ricciardoesque actually. I am starting to understand why he was picked over Kvyat.
