Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Shud be gud.
I expect Hamilton to finish way up the road from Bottas and to outclass him thoroughly in the race despite being bested in qualifying. Leclerc P2, with Verstappen, Bottas and Vettel fighting it out for P3.

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
The race will be done after lap 1 between the Mercedes being on same strategies and a 1 stop race. The only hope is the Ferrari's come good being on a different strategy.Invade wrote:Shud be gud.

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
I think it will be easy Mercedes 1-2. Soft tyres should have good start so Charles has to get at lest 1 if not both Mercedes at the start. Very encouraging qualifying for RBR and in the race they are better. So I think Max can get podium tomorrow.

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
So the one stopper is not even an option as per Pirelli? I guess the degradation is high here. And it explains why Ferrari opted to start on softs. But why ruin a brand new set of mediums if you knew you were always going to use the softs?
If Pirelli is correct then the race will be ferrari’s.
Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
I'd suggest Ferrari were already resigned to the 2 stopper wheras Mercedes proabably want to at least attempt the one stopper and see how the race pans out.

I think it will be a 3 stopper as I think it will RAIN! 30% chance forecast.
It is the British GP after all!

I've got a feeling Bottas might keep Hamilton honest this weekend. Hamilton seems to not really be fully on it this weekend.

This is what I am thinking. But the only chance I think Bottas has is if he has a better start than Hamilton, otherwise Hamilton will very likely just pull away. But if Bottas leads lap 1, I think he will likely win this if Mercedes are the best out there.cmberry20 wrote:I've got a feeling Bottas might keep Hamilton honest this weekend. Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
If Valtteri leads lap one and Merc makes a 1 stop strategy work, then Valtteri will likely win as Merc will use very similar strategy for both cars. If a two stop race is in the works, then Hamilton has a way by by changing up the strategy to overcut or undercut Valtteri.TheGiantHogweed wrote:This is what I am thinking. I think any amount of wet running will only help Lewis's cause. Max and Seb have not shown much in the way of wet weather talent the last few times out.

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
I don't think this will be a Mercedes only battle. I think Max and Charles will challenge for the race win. If it turns out to be a Mercedes show, I believe Lewis can overtake Valteri here, but he must bide his time. Valteri's tires usually fall off at the end of stints, so this is when Lewis should pounce. But again, I don't think we are in for a Mercedes only battle...

Might be raining just now, but looking at the forecast there is < 10% chance of rain this afternoon.
Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
What new tyres do ferrari have? Would soft medium medium work and put Ferrari on a fresher faster tyre at the end. Yesterday it looked like Ferrari were fastest on the medium.

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
It's a dangerous tactic. Teams who try for a one stopper and end up having to do a two nearly always lose out to teams who commit to two from the start. Mercedes have to be confident they can make it work.Flash2k11 wrote:I'd suggest Ferrari were already resigned to the 2 stopper wheras Mercedes proabably want to at least attempt the one stopper and see how the race pans out.
The more likely possibility is that Mercedes want to give themselves more laps in case it rains.

Really wish you would see more about Frank Williams. But he never talks on the media live. This is a great video. Only just uploaded a few minutes ago:

Excellent interaction, you just knew he wouldn't do as he was told!
Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Actually I think RBR will be more or less as good as Ferrari and so expect Verstappen to finish ahead of Leclerc, but will RBR and Ferrari be able to live with Merc race pace?

well, that start to the channel 4 i think was better to anything i've ever seen on sky pre race show. It was excellent. A bit funny that DC, Webber and Steve Jones are all not english
That start just reminds me how much better the pre and post race coverage is on channel 4, when they are allowed to show everything. The presenters just feel like they get on much better.

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
again, i am being right fussy here, but this weekend, channel 4 are having a lot of issues with their sound. the mic toto must have been using in that recorded interview didn't sound right at all. Sounded like he was talking through a pillow. Whenever they switched to the audio with the practice stops, it was fine. I really hope the race won't have this high pitched background hiss that only i seem to notice this time!

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
although i keep getting annoyed with the sound on channel 4, that lap with ben edwards and norris was another great bit of coverage. He may shout and make mistakes like crofty, but he sure sounds like he enjoys commentating a lot more. That was very good to watch and listen to.
Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
If you could pass that might well happen otherwise it's more likely whosoever is first into the first corner wins unfortunately.Invade wrote:Shud be gud.

Hamilton’s starts have been consistently great since China.
Very good chance that he will take the lead.

I just realized why it is fitting to put the 007 advertising on Max's car. Neither he nor Bond get penalties for pushing people off the track.

High time they tried another non-DRS race. Or a whole season. Then perhaps the teams would start designing for racing instead of just for top aero.Asphalt_World wrote:Hamilton DRS pass coming up then he'll disappear I fear.
