A slight difference on the amount of softs between Ferrari and Merc. I wonder if that will actually mean anything or if it'll just be evened up by the end of FP3.

I also didn't expect this to be a mid-downforce circuit, but I'm not even close to being an expert on that sort of thing so maybe that is just me :]

Mid or even low downforce, I'd say. There's two main downforce sections, which is turns 5/6 and the final corner. Most of it is straights, however, and since this is where the Williams always used to go well from 2014-2016, I think there's evidence that a quick slippery car is more valuable here than downforce.
PICK 10 COMPETITION (6 wins, 18 podiums): 3rd in 2016

Yawn, another Gp circuit with Hermann Tilke's fingerprints all over it.

Gets three DRS zones and probably needs them.

Last year Merc had a double retirement. Valtteri checked out with hydraulic issues and Lewis had fuel pressure problems. Max then cruised to victory over Seb and Kimi.

I don't know, I kind of like this track. There are often exciting races here and I'm really fast here in video games.

I think Ferrari should be strong this weekend. This is definitely a power circuit and the uphill straights will play to their strengths. Should be a competitive race IMO.

It's kind of a unique track. Power is important with the straights and elevation change but thought downforce plays a big factor to due to the high altitude...tough to call.

Hulkenberg & Sainz will start from the back of the grid as they'll be taking Renault engine Spec 3 in their cars.
https://www.gpfans.com/en/articles/4143 ... confirmed/

Albon too will be getting penalties & should start from the back as well for taking Honda engine Spec 3.

The teams had a meeting this mor img about tyres with a 5-5 vote over whether to revert to last years. I have since read on twitter that if they had voted to change tyres then they wouldn't have been available to Mexico anyway.

Merc, RP, Williams, Renault and Mclaren in favour of keeping this year's tyres, the rest voted to change.

Odd how all the Merc & Renault powered teams voted 1 way & all the Ferrari & Honda powered teams voted the other eh?

Who would've guessed?

A glaring example of one of the main reasons the sports in the sad condition it's in.

Sounds like Crofty's found his crusade for the weekend..... the curve in the final turn.

He's determined to get them moved no matter what Brundle, Chandok & Di Resta try to tell him.

Why on earth does he want them moved? I'm listening to radio 5live and they sound like they're great for punishing drivers who make mistakes.

Because the drivers keep hitting the sausage kurves & breaking wings.

Apparently he's worried about the repair costs to the teams.

God he's an idiot. Teams should be blaming their drivers on that one. They don't all clout the wall in Monaco so they obviously can keep it on the track with enough incentive.

Yes, but this one's different. According to Rusti13 every race from now on is going to be exactly the same as France. And the bonus for using the three compounds is that we won't have to worry whether we are going to get a brilliant overtake. Instead we can get excited about passing in the pit lane or pretend that the driver on the softs who has just overtaken the driver on the hards has done something spectacular.

Well that's what the others are saying but Crofty just can't seem to comprehend that argument.

To me it's simple, if the drivers want to keep running wide of the track limits then they should pay the price.

I think its disgraceful that Sky expect people to pay so much to watch F1 and have to listen to an idiot spend 20 minutes talking about his runt son, soda streams and totally unrelated rubbish. He did give a run down of the top 5, and thanks to someone sending him a message on twitter, he was able to correct his errors he made during the rundown.

Renault not looking good & Kubica 1.3 sec behind his teammate over a 68 sec lap.

It's great he made it back to F1 but I think it's pretty clear that sadly it's not where he belongs

I hope we get a genuine battle between a one and two stop strategy here. If one of the frontrunners has a compromised Q2 and has to resort to getting through it on softs then it will be interesting if they commit to a two stopper.

I seriously doubt Zoue has been banned, given the number of characters still here in the forum today.
