For me,
Hamilton, Verstappen & Kvyat
Hamilton, Verstappen & Kvyat
Kevin Magnussen got lucky if I'm honest. And his overtake on Grosjean was messy and bumped Grosjean off the track. Grosjean messed up from then on, but without the safety car, he looked better than Magnussen throughout the weekend.Mercedes-Benz wrote:Torpedo was looking very racy and he kept it together Unlucky to finish behind Sainz. K Mag and Max are the other 2 drivers I voted
At least a 3rd of his weekends last year were certainly not inch perfect. I think he clearly getting better but it needs to be longer before I could say he's almost always inch perfect. Even this year, I thought what he did on Sainz in Bahrain was not nice at all. It was a risk that could have been as bad as what he did with Hamilton at the same track last year.Bacus wrote:Verstappen, inch perfect as (almost) always.

All this said, overall, I think he is about the best driver so far this season.
I think the very slow double stack easily cost Kvyat beating Sainz and possibly Albon being in the points too.Zoue wrote:Got to be max, really. He's consistently beating cars that are quicker than him. Helped a bit at the beginning by Vettel's flat spot but seized his chance superbly and never looked back. He's looking mighty impressive.
Honorary shout out to Sainz. Did well to take Grosjean and I'm not entirely convinced the McLaren was better than the TR today
He's been great for basically a whole year now. It's not just the last 5 races.TheGiantHogweed wrote:At least a 3rd of his weekends last year were certainly not inch perfect. He kept at it throughout the race wasn't just a one off!TheGiantHogweed wrote:I think Kvyat was certainly the driver of the day. I would add Hamilton and Verstappen too. But those overtakes Kvyat did on Kimi and Grosjean and 1 or two others just looked excellent. The one on Kimi looked to be one of the most impressive overtakes by any driver this year. Painful listening to sky saying it was Albon.
And to add to that, it is also painful hearing Crofty saying Sebastian catching Sebastian. The level of mistakes between Brundle and Crofty is shockingly bad. Brundle was good with DC. Crofty needs to go and possibly brundle too. DC and Ben Edwards with Karun Chandhok on the pitlane instead of Kravitz is way better!
Grosjean was ordinary I thought. They both pitted for tyres after SC and he kept going backwards.TheGiantHogweed wrote:Kevin Magnussen got lucky if I'm honest. Well, that's fair, I meant to vote for norris and stroll but hit sainz and Stroll by mistake.JN23 wrote:Before anyone asks who voted for Norris, it was me meant to go for Sainz but clicked Norris instead.
Why would you be voting for the two drivers who crashed out?Altair wrote:Well, that's fair, I meant to vote for norris and stroll but hit sainz and Stroll by mistake.JN23 wrote:Before anyone asks who voted for Norris, it was me meant to go for Sainz but clicked Norris instead.
I didn't moan, I simply stated who I voted for.JN23 wrote:Why would you be voting for the two drivers who crashed out?Altair wrote:Well, that's fair, I meant to vote for norris and stroll but hit sainz and Stroll by mistake.JN23 wrote:Before anyone asks who voted for Norris, it was me meant to go for Sainz but clicked Norris instead.
I genuinely have no idea why you spend your weekend watching F1, all you do is moan about it.

Made the race more interesting.JN23 wrote:Why did you vote for two drivers who crashed out?Altair wrote:I didn't moan, I simply stated who I voted for.JN23 wrote:Why would you be voting for the two drivers who crashed out?Altair wrote:Well, that's fair, I meant to vote for norris and stroll but hit sainz and Stroll by mistake.JN23 wrote:Before anyone asks who voted for Norris, it was me meant to go for Sainz but clicked Norris instead.

So how does that in any way relate to DotD?Altair wrote:Made the race more interesting.JN23 wrote:Why did you vote for two drivers who crashed out?Altair wrote:I didn't moan, I simply stated who I voted for.JN23 wrote:Why would you be voting for the two drivers who crashed out?Altair wrote:Well, that's fair, I meant to vote for norris and stroll but hit sainz and Stroll by mistake.

Anyone who can make the race interesting wins driver of the day for me.So how does that in any way relate to DotD?
The poll is designed for who had the best performance on the day. I find it hard to believe anyone is not aware of thatAltair wrote:Anyone who can make the race interesting wins driver of the day for me.So how does that in any way relate to DotD?
As far as I can tell, the poll is open to all the drivers, is it not?
Either make it so some drivers aren't eligible to be voted for or accept that people will vote for them.Zoue wrote:The poll is designed for who had the best performance on the day. I'm going to echo JN23's question - why do you watch F1? You clearly don't like itAltair wrote:Either make it so some drivers aren't eligible to be voted for or accept that people will vote for them.Zoue wrote:The poll is designed for who had the best performance on the day. I stand by my decision that anyone who can make the parade around the track interesting is the driver of the day for me, the unsung hero.
I suggest people just move on, I don't think my vote will mess up the order that much.
Because there isn't much else to watch before game of thrones on a Sunday.Zoue wrote:I'm going to echo JN23's question - why do you watch F1? I don't mean to be difficult here but I think it is on topic. It's perfectly legitimate to question a vote and have a discussion about it to try and understand why a vote is arrived at. Otherwise you may as well just have a poll and not allow comments at all.Mod Aqua wrote:If enough people vote then anomolous votes will be averaged out of significance. Keep the discussion on topic.
You are correct. But when it becomes obvious there is an unresolvable difference of opinion it's pointless going around in circles.Zoue wrote:I don't mean to be difficult here but I think it is on topic. Althought it was obvious Hamilton was faster, I agree this possibly could have been the case. But I think Hamilton could have tried something in the pits and found a way past. He seemed much better at warming up his tyres.Mort Canard wrote:Lewis, Max, Carlos.
Honorable mention to Valtteri whose main problem looked to have been a balky clutch. I am not certain that if Valtteri had come out of turn 3 in the lead, Lewis would have been able to pass him.
