Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
If the roles were reversed Leclerc would have to move out of the way.

Vettel has a flat spot, needs to move over for leclerc
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
It does look like Vettel is losing ground. Possibly due to the flat spot but whatever the reason Max is getting away from them. Would make sense for Vettel to move overpokerman wrote:If the roles were reversed Leclerc would have to move out of the way.

Ferrari are in a pickle here.
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
It's strange. I'm not a Vettel fan, but he was always very fast in terms of race pace and qualy. He doesn't look impressive at all this year.Zoue wrote:Vettel dropping back from Max quite quickly. What has happened to his race pace this year?
Or Ferrari its not that good and Leclerc is extremely fast.

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
That team order is over 5 laps too late.
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Leclerc has dropped him very quickly. Fastest in S1 where Vettel dominated yesterday, so I'm inclined to think that flat spot is wrecking Vettel's afternoon
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Vettel should just pit now. Ferrari have nothing to lose on Vettel's care now.Zoue wrote:Leclerc has dropped him very quickly. Fastest in S1 where Vettel dominated yesterday, so I'm inclined to think that flat spot is wrecking Vettel's afternoon
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
I agree but Ferrari always leave it too long, why make 2 cars pace suffer from a flat spot.Zoue wrote:Leclerc has dropped him very quickly. Fastest in S1 where Vettel dominated yesterday, so I'm inclined to think that flat spot is wrecking Vettel's afternoon

Whens the pit window here, would have been interesting if vettel had pitted for hard at lap2

Vettel is rattled now he has a junior teammate.Bacus wrote:I'm not a Vettel fan, but he was always very fast in terms of race pace and qualy.

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Yes he's just losing time and falling into Gasly's clutches. Much longer and he'll be open to an undercutmikeyg123 wrote:Vettel should just pit now. Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Have to agree Z, so you wonder why Vettel seeing Max getting smaller and smaller didn't take the pressure off the pit wall and let him by.
The entertainment coming up has to be Max v Charles

Horrific advert for F1. Can just turn over after the first corner.

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Ok Apologies to SV, ....could it have been earlier. He won't be happy now after the botched and late pit stop!
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Nothing's going right for Ferrari is it?
That looked like the traffic light system not working.

It's noticeable when Hamilton is in front how he's able to gap Bottas which you don't see when it's the other way around

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
and Vettel back to being quickest in S1. So must have been the flat spot
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Bottas needs to be able to smell Hamilton's bumper consistently if he wants to travel. Repeated races like last time are such huge pressure, Bottas is bound to crack on a few occasions.pokerman wrote:It's noticeable when Hamilton is in front how he's able to gap Bottas which you don't see when it's the other way around

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Yeah...the race pace difference is huge. He is destroying Bottas in the final sector virtually every lap.pokerman wrote:It's noticeable when Hamilton is in front how he's able to gap Bottas which you don't see when it's the other way around
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
hard tyres for Leclerc

What is going on with Bottas? This pace deficit is surprising given his dominance over Hamilton in qualifying.

MV was the only driver with spare softs left so RB just trying to take advantage I think.

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
i think it is more that Hamilton has found what he is missing and is now very comfortable indeed compared to qualifying. I don't think it is that Boittas is nowhere at all. Wasn't this what we expected coming to spain with Hamilton?Alienturnedhuman wrote:What is going on with Bottas? This pace deficit is surprising given his dominance over Hamilton in qualifying.
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
1-2 again.
3-5 verstapen leclerc and vettel.
Every race is the same.
So very exciting!

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
yeah me neither. He would have been better putting on a set of Mediums or Hards and cruising to the endpokerman wrote:I'm not sure of Verstappen's strategy?
Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
So vettel is now clearly quicker than Leclerc. What to do?

A mimor irritation on the graphics. When they show on the left hand side 'the battle for X'.
It means you can't see how far behind one driver is from the one in front. Frustrates me.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. The one battle they are highlighting is the one battle they aren't showing the crucial information for!JN23 wrote:A mimor irritation on the graphics. When they show on the left hand side 'the battle for X'.

Re: 2019 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
Vettel is on a 2 stop and Leclerc a 1. Why is Leclerc still ahead?
