From some sources Bernie hosted a dinner at his home in Switzerland that MB and Stroll attended. I have been hoping for this to happen, now is the time to make it work!

Anyone have more info? I know everyone will deny they are talking however if Bernie is leading the charge this could be what we need!

Either that or Martin Brundle staging his racing comeback.

Imagine that: sold F1 for a godzillion of $$ and then steals the teams and start a new series where he will have the commercial rights again!!!

Only Bernie would pull a hustle like that!

If you are a businessman - do you want to do a start up with a man that is 88? Death is nearer than birth with him.

Not only is Bernie Up in years, he's responsible for the financial climate F1 currently finds itself in.

Thanks to his excessive GREED, his personal commissions coming before any money made it's way to venue/government, the series and teams!!!
I realize he did many great things too, but his fees were far too great and he allowed his relationships cloud his divvying up of the pie.

Still, today, I think Liberty should revisit their hosting fees, and lower them where it's obviously excessive and make it more even across the board.
Some countries pay muuuuuuuch more than others to host an F1 race and it's a big problem with several already pulling the plug on the F1 circus
because it was never financially sustainable to begin with and when funds ran out or outright negative, people asked questions and contracts were not renewed.

A breakaway series could only be successful if half the teams defect, and they do away with gimmicks like DRS, go back to N/A Engines that cost waaaaay less and sound waaaaaaaay better (you ninnies please stop with you preferring ultra-high tech nonsense and that the cars were too loud before, go watch Curling), and dare I say… bring back Ground Effects to some degree, feature refueling and QUALITY TIRES that drivers can push on and be done with feeble artificial attempts to create unnecessary drama.

Last paragraph: any breakaway series would only work with the big teams' involvement, in order to generate the interest. And the big teams are the biggest supporters of the hybrid engines, so I don't see that happening, unfortunately. Finally, if Bernie's involved it's virtually guaranteed that cheese tyres will be, too. They were his idea, after all

Bernie is probably closer to death than Vettels last title.

I'm pretty sure most business people would jump at the chance of starting up a business with Bernie - I definitely would! ;-)

Initially it wash Mercedes who wanted hybrid engines and later Renault came around, but Ferrari was vehemently against it and Cosworth didn’t want any part of developing a Hybrid engine with all the knicknackery that’s was required in order to meet the current formula. And last I read Ferrari still aren’t huge fans of hybrid engines. If Ferrari was the only team to leave and either v10 or v12 was the engine specification, said series would have legs to stand in even without the likesof the other teams, though I imagine Haas and Sauber would follow.

No Mercedes wanted a twin turbo engine, it was Jean Todt who wanted the green hybrid technology and then it was Renault that then also pushed for it.
