And who was set to beat their time but had to react to a spinning car?

I believe this went to who finally got it first. Not the times.

It's something that's always stuck with me. Dispute it being very morbid.

My question too you all.
What is the official time of death of Ayrton Senna

More of a riddle than a quiz question.....

What is taken to every F1 GP event, but is never ever used?

It was officially timed at 14:17.

The doctor who officially pronounced senna death announced the death a little after 6pm Italian time. Which was then announced on the news. But out of respect. The doctor back timed the death too the time of the accident in the race. Which was on Lap 7. Which was at 14:17.

Every losing teams and drivers national anthem.
(yes, I know some could have the same one as the winners but not all of them)

This makes me wonder: we know they didn't (at one point, at least) have a national anthem for every nation, so what nation's anthem would have been most likely to be brought to every track but never used?

Well I do know that when Hill won Jordans first race they couldn't find the Irish anthem for the constructor, so only 'God save the queen' was played.

Last four years someone has been toting around a copy of the Russian National Anthem for no good reason.

Those are decent bets, the French anthem in particular. There's usually been a French driver at any given GP, so in terms of the ratio of times brought / times played it might very well be in the lead.

Of course, I'm assuming that now with digital music and the internet they don't actually bring specific anthems at all and have a whole library of them, so one could say they bring every anthem to every race. But I'm sure that wasn't the case at one point in time.

To be fair it probably saw some occasional use in some of the support races. As opposed to the Swiss national anthem which has presumably been on standby since 1993.

Well the two wet tyres are the intermediates and full wets and those are definitely used on occasions.
I think it was Bridgestone that had a specification called Monsoon, but I'm unsure if they were ever used.

That's what I get for try'in to be all cultured & international like. I've a slim enough grasp on the English language let alone trying it on with the French stuff. Oh well.

Cheers for the best wishes Fiki. Back at ya.

Actually Jerez 97 was a weird event for a number of reasons.

* 3 cars setting the same quali time to the 1000/1 sec. The odds for that happening must be astronomical.
* Schumacher and his failed U-Boat torpedo impersonation
* Villeneuve winning the WDC in his 2nd year in F1
* Accusations of then Ferrari TP, Jean Todt, instructing Peter Sauber to use his cars to hold up the Williams if the opportunity arose. Like today, Ferrari back then supplied Sauber with engines.
* Accusations of a deal between Ron Dennis & Frank Williams for the Maccas to hold up Schumacher if they got the chance to let Villeneuve win the WDC in exchange for Williams moving over to let Macca win the race if possible.
* Mayor of Jerez hijacking the presentation ceremony leading to Max Mosley stating F1 will no longer race at that track.

Useless (and fairly easy) trivia:
Which race car driver had an impressive F1 debut in a Mclaren and a quickly fading F1 career after that? Hint: His son also had an impressive F1 debut in a Mclaren.

Bonus question, Who took the father's last seat in Formula 1? Hint: It was another famous F1 driver who also fathered an F1 racer. What team did both fathers drive for?
