Even though I like the layout, I'm expecting another dull race at this track. This track shouldn't host the final race of the year.

FIA press conference schedule:
Thursday, November 22 (1500 local time)

Part one:
Fernando Alonso (McLaren)
Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)
Lando Norris (2019 driver)
George Russell (2019 driver)

Part two:
Esteban Ocon (Force India)
Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari)
Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari)
Max Verstappen (Red Bull)

Part 2 schedule quite cheeky. Always trust FIA to drag issues longer than needed. Maybe they expect Verstappen to shove Ocon out of the press conference room. Anyway, am sure some ridiculous questions will be asked to both of them to boil their tempers.

Wonder if Hamilton will be taking a new PU for this.

Interesting that both Russell and Norris in the press conference. Don't normally see a driver who isn't racing in the Grand Prix there.

With both the WDC and WCC in the bag, It would seem a reasonable thing to do if the news stories of near failure at Brazil are true.

Plus this would also aid Wolff's & Bottas' ambition of Bottas scoring a win this year. Bottas is good aroun this track & everything is leading to a Bottas win this race weekend.

Yeah, If LH starts from, say 5-7th he could run the engine in "party mode" quite a bit and get back up to the front. A new power unit would only have to last this one weekend. He also will have the use of the cooling ducts in the rear wheels that the FIA have declared absolutely legal since Brazil.

If Valtteri is doing well Lewis can just sit back and cruise. If Bottas has no chance at the win, Lewis could compete for it himself.

Don't think that it will be a "gimme" for the Merc drivers though.

I imagine the engine used in Brazil was probably the last race scheduled for that engine and there will be another one with some spare mileage. Nearly every team take new engines for either Spa or Monza regardless if they need them and then will come back to the previous engine sooner or later.

2.3 glorious miles of parking lot. It was an autocross for F1 cars. Elevation change that could be measured with a 12 inch ruler.

May it live forever in infamy. Without doubt, the worst F1 circuit.

It would have made a pretty decent kart track, though.

Hope so

If I was Hamilton with both championships sealed I'd love to take a brand new everything, start from the pitlane and have some fun, put on a show and get sponsors some screen time

Good Lord that was a horrible circuit. Suprised it was used as many as two years (1981-82). IIRC, the most short lived F1 circuit after the single year in Dallas (1984)... also a dumpy circuit, albeit not in a parking lot. Both were embarrassments for America. Love COTA today though.

It seems pretty much whenever we’ve had a “dull” track this year the race has been a cracker. I think we may have another one here, especially if Ham is coming from the back with a brand new engine.

New engine behind Hamilton's car + 2 DRS zones in quick succession. Even if were to start from last, he'll come towards the front end in 5-7 laps as he'll be a bit more cautious when overtaking slower cars, unlike Max!

I wholeheartedly agree. They should go to Brazil or Mexico to finish the season IMO (or possibly Austin). Abu Dhabi is such an uninspiring location to host the finale and the track rarely produces an exciting race.

I generally find that it's not so much the location / circuit, more what is at stake, or what pokayes out. Hamilton desperately trying to back Rosberg into the following cars back in 2016 is one that springs to mind.

The 2012 race was pretty amazing which included this three way tussle / tangle:

I once heard Las Vegas was voted the worst F1 circuit of all time. I checked out some lists on the net and the track makes every one of them.

Alan Jones won the 1981 event which I believe at the time made him the only F1 driver ever to win his final race. He blew that record when he came out of retirement to race for Arrows at Long Beach in 1983

Haas has lodged a complaint against Force India with the FIA for supposedly the new team (Racing Point Force India) using the design of the older team (Force India). F1 regulations state all entries must own the intellectual property rights to their design.

Hence, both the teams will be meeting with FIA personnel tomorrow morning before FP1.

I wonder what the actual reason for running the #1 is, as I don't think it's for the reason they say it is...

I can't help but think Ferrari and Merc have everything turned right down at the moment.

This isn't a track that would usually favor RB I'd have thought?

Expecting a close race with the top 3 teams involved. Verstappen winning this race is not an impossibility.
