According to their website, it is 2 days and 40 minutes until the race, which would mean it starts at midday GMT. Which can't be correct if the BBC coverage only begins at midday. I presume that like the F1 races, it'll be starting at ten past the hour...

I'm probably the only person in the world that hates the look of the new cars buy still really excited to see how it all works out on Saturday.

You can find a schematic of the circuit here. That back esses section looks like it will be fun for the drivers; I could possibly see a bit of a train developing along there.

Jeez FE is even more ridiculously risk adverse when it comes to rain than F1.

To be fair, these are brand new cars that have never run in the rain.

I found the whole quali session to be a bit poor, if I'm honest. The biggest issue was a lack of timing information on-screen, not helped by the usually great Jack/Dario combination seeming a bit at sea with who was actually on a full power lap. Sound issues during interviews weren't great. The YouTube feed seemed to experience some issues as well, and then it all ended with Rosenqvist putting it in the wall and confusion about whether there was a red flag or not. And that's overlooking what seemed to be the series making it up on the go with regards to practice sessions and quali groups.

It does set us up for an interesting race but really, I think they have to do better than they did today. I want FE to succeed but it all felt pretty amateur compared to F1, and wasn't a wonderful advert for the series. Hopefully the race runs a little smoother. Also happy to see Stoff up in the top five.

Yep not a trouble free sessions, both from broadcast side & marshalling.
But it's a new start after all, some issues can be expected.

Hopefully it will be a fun & clean race, in a little bit more than an Hour!

Quite a few penalties for exceeding 250 kw/h.

This will be the starting grid:

So many good drivers in the series but why can't I get excited about the racing, it must be the cars themselves?

I loved this race tbh. Lot of close battles, drama, difficult track.

Cars looks much quicker, considering also that the track was in terrible conditions after this morning's shower

Techeetah looks omnious, but Da Costa was spot on today!

Really enjoyed that. The cars looked great on track, they look awesome anyway, but looked faster and more sturdy than the gen1 cars. Close racing all round, I like how they can give each other a love tap and have the cars fall apart!

Didn't think I'd like the attack mode, but I actually really did! Still not a fan of the fanboost though.

I also really like how Fe uses the VSC. How they start and finish it over the radio (although we didn't get it finishing today). And I love how the cars are nowhere near as heat dependant and sensitive to drive as f1, so they can really slow down for SC or VSC and go racing again without any hassle or issues.

Also happy to hear that Jev signed a multiyear contract with Techeater. I've really warmed to him since he joined Fe.

Looking forward to the rest of the season now. Just a shame it's a full month before the next race.

I thoroughly enjoyed that race

I followed FE from way before the first ever race, but gave up on it.
I couldn't get excited about the series and I was disappointed because I really wanted to like it.

After seeing what they did with the Gen 2 car I wanted to give it another go and I'm glad I did.
Faster cars, a car that lasts a full race (no gimmicky change over) and close racing with lots of overtaking
I think the Attack Mode has potential once the teams get used to when and how to use it

I'll be tuning in again.

Just watched the race on iPlayer after looking for it on the iPlayer section on my Sky box and it wasn't there so had to watch it on my pc, happened to see the result while trying to find the race online, was anyone else disappointed (or not surprised) at Vandoorne's performance?

Really good race. Looks like BMW and Techeetah are the teams to beat at the moment and good to see Jaguar showing better race pace and energy usage than in previous seasons.

BIB: One thing I didn't like, which they mentioned during commentary, is that the race director has the option to bunch the cars up behind the leader for a restart at the end of a full course yellow period. But it's very much at the race director's discretion, which I find a little ridiculous. It surely has to be consistent - either you always bunch the cars up or you never do it. Otherwise you're simply opening up a potential situation where one driver is penalised to a greater extent after a full course yellow period than another driver on another day.

Anyway, in general I enjoyed the race. I really, really liked that the cars appeared to work almost like touring cars when they were alongside each other into a corner, the flat slides basically allowing two cars to rub against each other without a spin or significant damage. Difficult to tell how effective attack mode was, but strategically it seemed like the best way to use it was either really early in the race when the gaps between the cars are smaller, or wait as long as you can in the hope that the field gets artificially bunched up.

Personally, with attack mode I would completely do away with fanboost. Maybe it's because it was the first race with attack mode but it seemed like fanboost felt even less relevant than it did before. All the focus was on the drivers using attack mode and the deployment of fanboost - even the announcement regarding who had it - seemed like an afterthought.

Post-race testing saw times dropping by 3 seconds given the better track.

We just scratched the surface of the Gen 2's potential 8)

I agree that Fanboost could go away next season: Attack Mode is a great (imho) strategic element and, most important, FAIR (as everyone has 2 activations available)

I was bored, so actually watched the whole race on youtube yesterday. It was a great race, I felt Vergne and Lotterer were on their way to an easy 1-2 if they were not penalized. Their car is so much faster than the rest! Vandoorne started 4th and dropped all the way to 19th at one point; he was basically a moving chicane.... His performance was shockingly bad. So, not sure what happened to him. There is just not enough coverage for that series. I can't find any details on every driver's race and such.
I doubt I will watch another race though. The cars' sound is so cringe worthy. Reminded me of a dentist' drill. Absolutely awful. It would have been better if they were completely quiet like most road electric cars. But yeah I'll be keeping an eye on it since there are some well known drivers on the grid, but to watch another race? Maybe on mute.
