Contacted a mate who lives in Nagoya (70 km away). No rain expected 10% chance, late cloud.

Nothing to lose Vettel starting P8 could be good to watch, hopefully Verstappen can get at least one Merc off the line.

Racing sets available for each driver. Grosjean just has a new set of Mediums?

On the qualifying times graphic you put up Grosjean has S and SS next to his Q2 time. I'm wondering if he did his time on S and then went out to do a SS run but realised he wasn't going to improve so didn't bother? A bit like it's been suggested that Bottas did. So in effect one of his used SS compounds are still almost new.

@JN23 - Yeah but it depends upon how much he didn't slip & slide on those tyres.

Race strategies as per Pirelli:

Quickest is a one-stopper:
- One stint on soft for 25 laps, then medium to the flag.
- Alternatively, one stint on medium for 28 laps, then soft to the flag.
- (A bit slower) one stint on supersoft for 20 laps then one stint on medium to the flag.

A two-stopper is also possible but slower:
- One stint on supersoft for 14 laps then two stints on soft (of 19 and 20 laps)

Thanks Sandman. I'm not great with the technical stuff regarding F1 but do my bit otherwise!

Did I just hear Tot Wolff correctly, when being interviewed by DC (Channel 4, UK)? He was being asked about how he compared to Hamilton in bowling, which they apparently did last night and I'm sure he said that playing with little balls wasn't his thing.

 Must've missed that comment! I did hear that he would have no problems with a driver switch again if Bottas is ahead, which is a shame, but at least he's straight out with it and honest.

What is Max doing? If you leave the circuit, you can't rejoin and cut someone up that badly.

P6 on merit, the other 2 places were gifted to him by Max! But it was a superb and brave overtake on Grosjean.

The penalties deserved but takes about all the excitement out of the race.

100 percent correct decision giving MV the penalty. K mag should probably be getting one himself.

Agreed - but that's racing. I was referring to him not being let through, which was a topic of conversation earlier.

I can't believe we have to lose 5 laps to collect a few bits of debris. Have they forgotten about the VSC?

Somewhat surprised by Vettel's penalty, rejoining unsafely is one thing, causing an accident is another.
