got to think Ferrari and Merc are both turned down. VER only 6 tenths down despite being on the harder Soft tyre to their SuperSofts.

So Alonso's apparently on a Spec 1 chassis with limited upgrades and he's still outpacing Vandoorne handily

So the speed traps so far are FI - by quite a way - followed by Mercedes and then Ferrari. Which is a bit of a surprise

Mercedes and Ferrari look closer than yesterday, could be a good qualifying today.

And Hamilton brings Mercedes back into the game. Interestingly, when compared to Vettel their S2 and S3 advantages cancel each other out, but HAM loses a tenth in S1

Bottas letting the side down a bit. He's really struggling so far and needs to pick things up for the WCC fight

It's just shown that Vettel exceeded track limits at parabolica yet again on his fastest lap.

RIC apparently focusing on race sims as he's starting at the back of the grid anyway, so can't read too much into the gap to VER

Looking like a pretty tasty 3-way battle for pole. Bottas not looking comfortable at all and the others are neck and neck. Hard one to predict comfortably, this

Yesterday Sauber team had DRS issues. Today Hulk's car also had a DRS issue. Even when he entered the pitlane, the DRS was open. Have a feeling this is not the last time we'll be seeing a DRS related issue at Monza.

Apparently it's allowed as long as you keep 2 wheels on the track.

If Ferrari get a 1-2 here (assuming it's the "right" 1-2!), then they'll take the lead in both Championships. That would be a bit of a fairy tale at their home Grand Prix.!

Something tells me Hamilton may spoil that party, though...

I read that is was 2 for that particular corner, I don't actually know the rule. My opinion is just stick gravel everywhere and that will stop anyone taking advantage.

Have Sauber made a statement yet about what turned their car left when the DRS failed to close?

Ericsson will get a 10 place grid penalty for putting on a new engine. Ricciardo & Hulk will start from the back with their penalties.

I’d think that the brake balance would be completely off with the DRS open. Any time there’s too much forward bias in the brakes the back end will try try to overtake the the front it’s jus a matter of whether the steering wheel is turned a little one way or the other that determines which side it spins to.

They need a curb sausage curb or something there. It's ridiculous the amount of drivers we've seen driving clean off the circuit and not losing time because they can just keep their foot in.

Hamilton is 17 points clear, the difference between 1st and 3rd is 10 points

My first thought was also brakes, or perhaps brake balance. The DRS only closes when the brakes are already being operated, and the airflow still needs to re-attach to provide the 'normal' aerodynamic balance. So I was surprised all reports only mentioned the DRS, which I find hard to believe caused the accident. At Monza, Ericsson should have been able to run straight on, causing little more than a styrofoam snowstorm.

I hope we will learn more about this later on. Apart from the car veering left, I think the incident is a good reminder of how stupid putting DRS on the cars was.

Going by FP, Merc and Ferrari are virtually even in S1 and S2, with Ferrari ~0.2 up in S3. Neither are using full power yet, of course.

All the cars are running 2 wheels off the track, Vettel looked to be 4 wheels off the track.

Looked neck and neck in P3 in the dry, be interesting to see how the rain affects the pecking order. I assume neither Ferrari nor Mercedes will want to run too much wing given the race is supposed to be dry.

Did I see Hamilton overrunning the white lines twice during his first timed lap in Q1? I think I did. Vettel, I believe also ran out at least once. This is getting ridiculous.

Looks like Bottas may have found a bit of pace. At least he is within a tenth of Hamilton now. But will that continue. Anyhow. it will be impressive if either mercedes driver make the front row. Unless vettel or Kimi mess up.
