10sec time penalty for Kimi. Don't get how it was different to Vettel's incident last week but ok

Will be tough for Hamilton to finish ahead of Kimi with him only having a 10 second penalty IMO. Podium may be out of the question.

5 second for Vettel, 10 for Kimi, that's consistency.

+10s, completely deserved. He wanted the corner, locked up and understeered.

Too bad that Kimi's mistake pretty much decided the race (as BOT is unable to match VET), oh well.

That's the stewards protecting the Championship contender(s).

Looking at the pace of the Ferrari, there was only a 3rd place available to Lewis anyway. He'll likely make it close to that anyway as long as the car holds out.

Probably some nonsense about Hamilton being considered a championship contender but Bottas not.

I think a 10 second penalty would have been correct in the Vettel incident though tbf.

Vettel also ended up at that back after his incident and Kimi didn't.

I'm guessing that's what they see differently.

Kimi really needs to pass Max if he's not going to lose too much time with his penalty. Not impressed with him so far. He should be much faster than Max

Kind of a confirmation that the 5 seconds was way too lenient.

This is laughable. Completely similar incidents. How can they explain different penalties.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but maybe the difference between T1 and T3 is a factor? The stewards are generally more lenient with T1 crashes, although I'd argue here T3 is the first serious braking point.

Perhaps Kimi paid the price because of all the whinging that Seb didn't get enough of a penalty?

Can people really not see a difference. In France, Vettel suffered. But Bottas suffered more. Here, Kimi hardly sufferes at all and although Hamilton gets no puncture, it was a lot more than Kimi. I think a 5 second may have been enough, but this doesn't seem unfair to me.

This is probably true. They do tend to take into account whether the driver at fault effectively penalised themselves with their actions.

Hamilton is very quick and slashing through the field. Once he overtakes Hulk, it will be interesting to see how quick the gap closes.

Really DC, you think the penalty should be that the offender has to come out behind the victim? Absolutely no margin for mischief there eh?

.

Kimi's crash was very poor - IF you can't trust experienced drivers to turn their wheels into a bend, then it just becomes stock car racing.

Why have I not seen good replays of the Kimi/Lewis incident - that resulted in a 10 second penalty for Kimi?

possible because he effected his own result pretty badly too. If Vettel didnb't suffer himself, i think it could have been the same 10 second penalty in france.
