I think he knows he doesn't have a chance of passing Vettel, so he's focusing on saving the tyres.Zoue wrote:But Lewis was on the radio earlier saying the pace was slow, so don't think he's pushing that hardF1_Ernie wrote:Yeah constantly under a second.Ocon wrote:Kimi is able to hang with Lewis. Maybe. Look at Bottas - he's absolutely flying and much faster than any of the guys in frontOcon wrote:I think he knows he doesn't have a chance of passing Vettel, so he's focusing on saving the tyres.Zoue wrote:But Lewis was on the radio earlier saying the pace was slow, so don't think he's pushing that hardF1_Ernie wrote:Yeah constantly under a second.Ocon wrote:Kimi is able to hang with Lewis. It's looking like Bottas is on the best tyres, strange that Mercedes split the strategy

Interesting what Chandhok just said about Verstappen having a lot of rear graining on his ultras. Could make it a two stop. Bottas for the win?
Ricciardo losing power!
Ricciardo losing power!

Ric: losing power!
Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
RIC issue!!! DAMM!
Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
I wonder if Williams will start looking for a replacement (financially at least) for Stroll? Not endearing himself to anyone at this point.
Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
Bottas is on the better tyre here if the leader can't make it too the end.

What's happening with Dan?

That's a shame, he deserved this one.SDLRob wrote:Riccardo losing power.....

Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
So Bottas only front runner on the Supersofts and is much much quicker than everyone else. Over a second. Could be on for a dramatic finish?

This could really help Lewis, Kimi and Valtteri if Danny is backing Seb up

Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
You would think pitting so early you would go on the SS and pitting later you would go on the US, not the other way round. I guess with Bottas they had nothing to lose and everything to gain.pokerman wrote:It's looking like Bottas is on the best tyres, strange that Mercedes split the strategy

EDIT: Apologies, just read Lewis in your post. Lewis seems to have dropped back a bit.

We've seen time and time again that track position is king. Seb will have to do this on track.

Kimi seems to have slowed right down, too
Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
It will be difficult for Seb to pass Dan even if he is quite a bit faster.

Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread
Dirty air has made this a stalemate. Bring on 2019, Valterri would be hounding Kimi rather than stuck 1.5 seconds back.
