Yeah somewhat disappointing.
Racing Point is just a temporary name. A new name will be finalized before start of the 2019 season:

Fair enough.

Latifi's father Michael became a shareholder in McLaren recently and Latifi's family wealth is bigger than the Strolls
New patern in F1? Is his daddy going to buy him a team soon? xD

Latifi needs to get enough F1 super license points first.

So apparently Ricciardo had a deal with Ferrari, but it was vetoed

I would say probably Marchionne as he was pushing hard for Leclerc?

Yeah the article suggests Vettel of Marchionne. I think it’s the latter as well

Saying Ricciardo had a deal with Ferrari that was vetoed... I don't think that's correct at all, or at least based on the following quote from the same article:
“Good question,” he added. “Maybe it’s better if you ask them. I talked and discussed, but you see that they had already made arrangements with Leclerc, so mine fell through.
“That works well and good luck to them as far as I’m concerned. I hope to still have some time in F1 and who knows that in the future there are not opportunities to meet again.”
It sounds like they had either already decided to promote Leclerc, or that when Ricciardo spoke to them they had to make a decision between him or Leclerc and opted for the latter. I suppose there would've been discussions about the basic framework of the deal, but it doesn't sound like Ricciardo had a deal agreed and then Ferrari suddenly pulled the plug on it.

I agree I can't see there would have been a deal agreed, there was a rumour going about that in order for Marchionne to keep a reign on Vettel's driving he would threaten to sign Ricciardo or at least that happened the once so that would suggest that Vettel himself was not keen on him being signed?
I don't think that Vettel could actually veto Ricciardo so I don't think that Ricciardo would have been using the right terminology, ultimately the final decision was with Marchionne.

Whoever it was I think he shouldn't talk about it. I find it kind of unprofessional and maybe a bit rude to Renault. It's like "I was almost a Ferrari driver but someone fu...d me up and now I'm gonna drive this yellow dog car..." at least I understand it a bit this way...
