Would you prefer grey? Or black? :?

Personally I like it. The grid looks much more colourful now compared to a few years ago.

Being serious it's pretty much as expected but I quite like it. Are those little white wings in front of the cockpit? Don't remember seeing those before.

The paint job is lovely, the car itself is fairly ugly.

Livery doesn't look quite as refined as last seasons but it certainly stands out.

Are they remaining as Force India then? Or can we expect a change in name between now and Melbourne?

If you noticed, Force India name is missing from everywhere. This points to a name change happening behind closed doors. How soon it happens don't know but will be before Melbourne for sure.

I think it looks very cool, very racy! Hopefully it's quick too!

Baby toy.

Those saw outskirts near the back wheel are terrific way to cut the tyres of opponents.

Honestly, I much preferred last year's livery. The lighter shade of pink looked better, as did covering the whole car in it. Not a fan of how this year's looks with the way the white constantly breaks up the pink, particularly on the nose. Based on the placement of the BWT logos, I would assume this is at their request. Looks like they don't want their logo on a pink background this year as even on the sidepods, they've put a thick white stroke around the logo.

Exactly how I feel. I don't like this livery, I don't like all the white in it.

 Last years was much better, at least it stands out still though I guess.

That's the upside. Overall I like the current field. Lots of colour!

I love it. I prefer the bolder pink than last year's car.

I also think it's the best looking halo.

Yeah, and a lot of variation as well. I think the only cars that might be difficult to differentiate would be Williams and Sauber, and even then that'll only potentially be an issue with shots from the front.

I, however, feel that the white is a major improvement!

Yet more proof that it's impossible to please everyone.

Agreed. The bland pink last year looked like vomited pepto bismol afyer a couple hours in the stomach and the bubbles were awful. This is CLEARLY strategically designed WITH time. Last year’s was a last minute deal and as such it was rushed and looked every bit of it.

Loving this car and livery!

I think it looks kinda good. Just a shame the halo pretty much ruins it.

Gary Anderson finds the design of the front wing bold as it's somewhat different from its immediate competitors. He said:

'Looking in detail, the philosophy of the front wing assembly is slightly different to that of other teams. The part in front of the tyre is very much what you might call a tyre ramp. All the flaps continue through there, but as it comes towards the centre of the car it changes height fairly abruptly.

Other teams make this transition from one section to another more progressively, so this is something different. You could call this a tyre pod rather than an airflow realignment device.

If you look at the main plane, it's quite a long chord on the outboard end, so for me it's a little bit of a strange package of componentry on the front wing and isn't following the trend many others have taken at this point in time.'

Totally amateur guess -

FI have made a habit of having a 'specialist' car in recent years, and they do it really well. They know they can't compete on everything, so they build a stable car with enough traction out of corners and straight line speed to keep people behind. They then often run long, as their track position and straight line speed makes them difficult to overtake.

Are they sacrificing overall 'performance' with a run their tyres long and have solid straight line speed philosophy, with this potentially helping with tyre wear?

Was it last year that Gary Anderson predicted Force India would be the second fastest team, or was that 2016?

I'll readily admit that he knows much more about aerodynamics and open wheel car design than me. However his pre-season predictions about how well certain cars will go are no better than mine and often worse.

Given his understanding of F1, sometimes I wonder if his predictions are less reflective of what he thinks the order will be and more reflective of what might create a few more page views...
