Cool 2025 F1 Artist Concept
OK Ladies & Gents…
The last one I posted was a 2-D animation of Senna. This one is more interesting on that it addresses the current head protection issue
while maintaining some of the current specifications (at least to some degree from the looks of it) making for a very cool looking car that
could potentially be very functional judging by the look of the aero.
Either way it felt like eye candy to me.
(Sorry but this site seems to think people still have CRT monitors that don't feature more than 1200 Pixels so I couldn't post the pics directly)

This looks vicious!

Those are closed cockpits I could live with! Soooooooooo much better than that god awful halo. I'm sure the level of protection the closed cockpits offer is not enough to satisfy the safety hounds.

So tobacco advertising is making a comeback in the near future?
It does look great and is definitely eye candy. But...
Looks a lot more like the next years Indy car oval configuration than a current F1 car to me. Don't know what the guys aero background is or if this is a purely "this looks cool" personal project but most of those fiddley bits could go away with ground effect tunnels instead of the F1 style diffuser. The coke-bottle area doesn't have much of a waist to it either.

IDK about the level of protection not being enough with a canopy because they are a staple in fighter jets and they hold up to 10 times the speed of an F1 car and hold up to impacts quite well.Herb Tarlik wrote:Those are closed cockpits I could live with! Someone posted earlier that poly-carbonate didn't hold up in the tests but I remember when they first posted the footage and it held up perfectly.

Chop the wheels, add anti-gravity, stick a jet engine at the back and you got something like F-Zero or Wipeout.
For my eyes, lovely. In general anyway, I like the side shots of the Ferrari/McLaren but not the Williams which is fully side on profile. Not sure about practicality of not having a high airbox roll structure but in terms of looking like a young me thinks looks "fast", I like the look.

This is exactly where I think open-wheeled cars should be in a decade. They'd look good, they'd be safer, they'd be faster, and they'd still be open-wheeled. What's not to like?

Is it just me who thinks they look exactly like Lmp1 cars just with the wheel covers chopped off?
On a side note, I doubt they would pass the roll bar clearance test or whatever it's called.

Danger is real, fear is choice.

I don't know if it's just you, but it certainly isn't me. They don't have the hideous front end of an LMP1 car, for a start...specdecible wrote:Is it just me who thinks they look exactly like Lmp1 cars just with the wheel covers chopped off?

Nice to look at, but I dont think the person that produced them knows much about engineering, or what the current rules are or are likely to be by then.
Does not detract from the aesthetic appeal of them though

Sheesh, all that those passionate idealistic traditionalist anti-closed cockpit arguments you made on the Halo thread and you change your tune as soon as the latest cool looking mock up surfacesHerb Tarlik wrote:Those are closed cockpits I could live with! I agree. I wonder did anyone do anything similar 8 years ago and if they did how close were they to the current designs?moby wrote:Nice to look at, but I dont think the person that produced them knows much about engineering, or what the current rules are or are likely to be by then.

They look amazing, love them.

That is how my brain operates. While for others the livery or cool lines may draw their eyes, I see the technical side, and factor in what direction Brawn is leaning.moby wrote:Nice to look at, but I dont think the person that produced them knows much about engineering, or what the current rules are or are likely to be by then.

Yes they are cool, and I do believe the cockpit canopy can be made to work, AKA the F-16. But I abhor all those extraneous strakes and bits and bobs sticking out like failed origami. And if the cars have any hope of being able to follow closely, the front wing has to be even simpler and that beautiful and wide rear wing has to be replaced by one much narrower and higher. I would like to see the tires a bit wider too.
Interesting choice of helmet colors.
Only dogs, mothers, and quality undergarments give unconditional support.
Re: Cool 2025 F1 Artist Concept
If the front wing is reduced wouldn't they have to decrease the downforce at the rear to balance it anyway? Therefore if they kept the lower wing things would improve in turbulence anyway?Blinky McSquinty wrote:That is how my brain operates. May be wrong but I'd assume so...
