So it looks all setup for a Hamilton win to close the gap to Vettel!

I still think Bottas's long run pace looked better than Hamilton's in practice this weekend. If Bottas has another great start like he did in Russia, I think he'll have a very good chance at winning here too.

Mercedes ahead after the first lap will win (provided they take the same advantage into the race) back to normal rules of engagement in Mercedes domination era.

Unless we have really low tyre wear and tyre heat up issues, an over cut might be workable. Also an ill timed SC could completely turn the race on its head or even just a VSC, remember pitting is half the time if you pit under the VSC.

Seb's going to have to run quite conservatively tomorrow, his ICE is the same old one they put in for Spain, ICE 1 from the first few races and has over 3000km on it.

Tough gig.

Is Vettel back on engine 1? If so, I foresee a very conservative race, could be tricky to get him in front of Kimi unless he jumps him at the start.

Apparently yeah. Ferrari must have something up their sleeve upgrade wise with the ICE because they seem very unwilling to take a new one twice now and to do it twice with the same old unit is strange.

Must be one hell of an upgrade to risk that at a track like this.

I would watch out for Max at the start. He seems to be going really well here.

We all know Vettel will end up in front of Kimi.

Did anyone see the F2 race where Sean Gelael crashed into Turn 9 (where Perez & Palmer crshed) & caused a pile up of 4 cars?

Yeah.. If that happens today in the race it will be a long race as the only option seems to be red flag.

Seems to me from looking at that there's a huge divergence in setup, for example Ricciardo going 5 kph faster than Verstappen.

I wonder if after qualifying and the cars are in Parc ferme it would be possible for the FIA to release certain details of car setup publicly. For example wing angle, which would give us a clearer idea who is running a low downforce setup etc. Probably wouldn't appeal to the casual viewer but I imagine the likes of us F1 nerds would find that fascinating and once the cars are in Parc ferme where's the harm?

Ocon being 7 seconds faster than Perez & Kvyat 6 seconds faster than Sainz.
I wonder if Ocon & Kvyat managed to get a bit of tow even.

Ricciardo being ahead of Mercedes duo is some neat surprise.

But if such a situation does occur in today's race where some cars would be stuck behind the crashed car in turn 8-9, do the F1 cars switch off their engines or wait patiently till the crashed car is towed away?

If they switch off the engines, would they return to the pits via being towed or would they restart the engine? OR
if they don't switch off their engines & wait for the crashed car to be towed, wouldn't waiting there burn precious fuel & increase the engine (& brake temperatures)?

I would like to see that information as well as a lot more telemetry data. I am sure teams want to keep their secrets, but something like wing angle is surely known to all teams. I am sure they study footage and photographs of other teams' cars and they can figure out anything setup-related that is visible on the car.

Oh dear, how sad is hamilton sky sports, already talking about how ferrari are going to rob kimi and get vettel ahead of him. The bias with this station borders on ridiculous.

They are a little biased as Hamilton is a British driver, but let's be realistic. I don't know for sure, but I strongly suspect that Italian TV stations are just as (or more) biased towards Ferrari and Spanish stations towards Alonso, just to name a couple.

Also, I have a sneaky feeling that the Hamilton-Bottas love-fest will finally finish today. They are clearly ahead of everyone else, and Vettel isn't directly behind them to trouble them. Hamilton has track position while Bottas seemed to have the better race pace on Friday.

I suspect headaches at the Mercedes garage.

It's the modus operandi!

Bottas and Kimi can't help running into each other.

That's the second time in three races that Kimi has been wiped out by Bottas.
