There's having an own opinion, and there's spouting abject nonsense like "F1 is a European sport".
F1 has always been european in its roots and foundations. Like it or not.
Another thing is that nowadays has became more global.
I just want its roots and foundations to remain european.
Like european football, I dont want arab sheikhs or other foreign billionaires to buy any more teams.
Its my opinion, respect it.
Respect is earned, not demanded.

On that note, Hitler's opinion was that the Jews were better off to the concentration camps. You ok with his opinion? Would you demand respect for him?

Not trying to have a go, genuinely interested where your line in the sand is...

If the Chinese engine is ok if they prove to be competitive and build a history would them having a full works team then be ok?
Yes it will be ok, too bad that wont happen
So European isn't necessarily the requirement, just building a history in Motorsports before entering F1?
Yes, mostly
Chinese dont have any history in motorsports, all they can do is buy.

The Macau Grand Prix has been running since the 50's - does only Formula 1 motorsport count?

Okay, using this logic, I can also not respect you and criticise you for bringing up that ridiculous hitler example therefore this doesnt even deserve a response

As far as I know, Macau was a portuguese territory up to the late 90s

You mean colonization in africa? If they are poor its their own fault, nothing else, dont let others tell otherwise.
Yeah, of course the benevolent white man tried to modernize the savages, but it totally is their fault that they are so poor still :uhoh:

And how do you explain India, the country all Europeans were racing to reach first? Richest country in the world, estimated to account for over a quarter of the world's GDP when the British landed on its shores...down to less than 4% when the British were finally forced to leave (and today, home to the highest number of poor people in the world). I'm sure that is also totally their own fault...

Difference is that I didn't demand your respect. And it is not that I don't respect YOU, it's that I don't agree with/respect your opinion. You still can't grasp that, can you?

Does that matter? It's just an example - the people living there are the same. Macau may only be a chinese territory or whatever you describe it as, but to say the country/area doesn't have racing history is false.

I don't know why I'm bothering to respond. You've already pretty much admitted your real problem is with China itself. There's a word to describe that attitude - but I'll refrain.

Correction - his problem is with non-Europeans. Too bad Le Pen or Petry aren't around to take care of it.

Godwin's law and all that.

Im reading elsehwhere that this is a company that his been established with a view to buying out one of the existing teams, EJ went pretty big on C4 yesterday saying that it was Mercedes that is getting bought out at the end of 2018 as Petronas and UBS are pulling out of the sport..... Toto rubbished the whole idea in pretty strong terms but there would have had to be something in it for C4 to let Eddie cook up a piece like that and present it as fact the way he did.

Theres a chap over on the Autosport forums who sort of seems to have a friend on the inside who was saying the Chinese are looking to invest/start up a team too, even before China F1 Racing Team Ltd came to light, although he is getting a right old bashing over there from most folk. Certainly seems to be a fair bit of smoke for there not to be a fire though.

I'd love to see a UK F1 racing team.

Team joins F1. UK media immediately begin to complain about the regulations in F1, and publish Chase's expenses. Inside the team there are a few people who don't think the UK should have an F1 team at all. In a bid to quench this, the team principle announces he'll let all employees vote on whether to remain in F1. Bizarrely, the employees vote to leave F1 thus rendering themselves unemployed and proving that turkeys do sometimes vote for Christmas.

Got to wonder why anyone in the sport tells Eddie Jordan anything given his propensity to blab about highly top secret stuff to the media.

Seems that rumor was also based on truth…

Now a 2nd Chinese team seems to be in the works as well and linked to Adrian Campos. Could be interesting.

Aaaaaaaaaa-MEN!!!!!!!!
28 even.

best thing about this 2nd team is the link with Campos because if all they are providing is the money and allow Adrian to run the operation, he's proven he's more than capable of running an outfit properly. The only issue is going to be the same one everyone faces… Will the car's design and drivetrain allow it to compete towards the front?, and if not, how far ahead from the back can they compete and finish?

Either way Campos in F1 sounds like a positive to me.

Yup, no issue with Chinese or any other teams entering the sport, but they should not be backed by governments. There are far ranging ramifications of that and most of them not good for F1.

Not a big fan of that, but Renault is a huge car brand and manufacturer. The French government is not funding it because of F1 involvement.

IMHO, F1 management needs to block the entry if government is involved in funding and running the team. That is big no no. Specially if its coming from socialist government that is socialist on paper but acts more like capitalistic dictator.

This is why I was also not comfortable with Williams sponsorship with state agency. But that was absolute limit of what is ok in this sport IMHO.

If it is privately funded and owned, no problem. Call it whatever they want to call it including China F1.

But at no stage government should be owner of a Formula 1 team. I hope new F1 management handles this carefully.

IF, and its a big IF, this is government run then the people pulling it together will do their usual jiggery-pokery anyway.

Government funded can mean privately funded, with government money benefiting that private company elsewhere. It can mean privately funded, but with very friendly tax breaks. It can be privately owned, with Chinese private companies providing ridiculous levels of sponsorship and receiving tax breaks elsewhere. There are multiple ways they could indirectly fund this.

Hosting an event and government being part of an active F1 team are different things.
