Crushed. What a terrible week for people I haved admired and loved----Chris Cornell, and now, Nicky.

RIP, Nicky. A terrible loss for your friends and family, and the racing world.

RIP Nicky, I know you can't always believe what you read but I just looked at his Wikipedia entry and it says that according to his dad he was never placed into a medically induced coma which had been widely reported, also no surgery was ever performed on him as his injuries were too severe to make any difference so sadly it seems like it was just a matter of time before he died.

So terrible to hear. Some great tribute movies out there. He was loved by many, and will be missed accordingly.

Horrible, horrible news. Huge was a great racer and one of the good guys.

EDIT
James Toseland:
"His biggest achievement is not the trophies he won, or the championship, it was the respect he got from his peers. The way everybody talks about Nicky Hayden speaks volumes for the type of person he was."
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Rest in Peace, Nicky.

May your family find some solace in the incredible respect you have earned and that is being shown at this time.

Just been reading and apparently Police have good quality video of the entire accident. Apparently someone had a camera affixed in the front of their home and have reported it and gave the footage to the police. Apparently he was broadsided from his left side as he was passing the intersection, but no further details have been released as of this moment.

He was riding with 13 others so maybe the driver was off in La LA Land looking at their phone. Just a tragic shame any way you put it.

I hate to say it but I haven't read anywhere that it was the driver's fault...

Great article, looking back on Nicky's first win. Such wonderful pictures from that day.

My older brother has been taking this really hard, Nicky was his favorite rider. He mentioned that he'd be getting a 69 tattoo in honor of The Kentucky Kid.
I'd rather die than be overtaken.

So, so sad, a lovely bloke & a great rider.
My sincerest condolences to his family, friends & fiancé.

My brother in law is devastated as he is from Kentucky & a huge fan.

I loved the answer he gave when asked why he chose the number 69,
So the people would know whose bike it was when it was upside down.
