Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
If you could choose the next 5 champions, who would they be?
I'm only doing drivers for my list, but feel free to do a WCC list as well if you want to.
2017: Alonso
2018: Ricciardo
2019: Vettel
2020: Vandoorne
2021: Ricciardo
I want to see the next wave of greats start to build their legacies but I also think there are a few drivers who could do with more championships to round out their careers, so I've comprised between the two.
Alonso finally gets his 3rd in 2017, promptly retires. Ricciardo wins for Red Bull in 2018, but they fall back in the following year due to a reduction in budget. Vettel then wins his title with Ferrari in 2019. Vandoorne takes the 2020 title with McLaren, Vettel retires. In 2021 Ricciardo replaces Vettel at Ferrari and wins the title, setting up the next great rivalry of the sport: Vandoorne vs Ricciardo, Ferrari vs McLaren.

2017: Massa
2018: Vettel
2019: Hulkenberg
2020: Prost N.
2021: Vettel
Just my wildest dreams on steroids based on way too personal preferences of the drivers. I can't even say, "I hope so". But these I would like to see win them.

Re: Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
2017: Alonso. Similar reason as yourself BF11, plus it would be a great turnaround for McLaren-Honda
2018: Ricciardo. I think he's driven the best out of everyone in the Turbo era thus far and deserves a title.
2019: Vettel. Wins for Ferrari in his 5th year.
2020: Hamilton. Joins Seb at Ferrari and takes the title in an epic battle with Seb,Stoff,Dan,Ocon and Max all in similar cars to kickstart Liberty Media's new era of rules and regulations for real.
2021: Verstappen. After coming 2nd 4yrs on the bounce it finally comes together for him and he begins his period of domination.

I would be quite happy for Hamilton to win the next 5 titles but if he was to end with 5 titles then I could well live with that.
But bringing a bit of fairness into it I think Alonso deserves one more title and then I quite like Ricciardo and Vandoorne.

Another Fernando title would be sweet after all these years. But back in the real world I hope to see Ricciardo get one before Verstappen usurps him. After that I'm ok going straight to a titanic tussle between Verstappen and Vandoorne

Alonso all five: to bring him up to speed with the other 'greats' where he belongs.
Jokes aside it will be good to see the new generation of Verstappen, Vandoorne and others challenging the establishment.
Pity Moanor have gone; reduces scope for new talent.

As long as Alonso gets his 3rd and Ricciardo wins one I don't care.
Big lol to the people who think Alonso will retire if he wins this year. He hasn't striven for 10 years to win his 3rd to promptly retire when he gets a car that can deliver it.

One each for Ricciardo, Räikkönen and Bottas. Two for Vandoorne, unless Max calms down and allows close racing. Then he's welcome to a title too.

Re: Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
Bottas x 5
Jokes aside. (Most people seem to think he will be no match for Ham)
Alonso: I think of any of the recent drivers, Alonso is most like Senna. It would be great for him to at least match Senna's 3 titles.
Ricciardo: I would love to see Dan win at least 1. Being an Aussie our last F1 champ was Alan Jones over 30 years ago. Watching Vettel win 4 against Webber was pretty painful. Would love Dan to get some glory. Max has plenty of time!!
Ham: I think Ham is arguably the best on the grid right now. It would be good for him to get 4 to at least match Vettel's 4.
The other 2 guys I would like to see win 1 are:
Kimi: The iceman at times in 2016 was seriously quick. I think Kimi is a driver that is really motivated by winning. If Ferrari can give him a car he can challenge in, then maybe we might see him return to his best. It won't be easy to get past Vettel if the Ferrari is strong, but I would love to see it!
And the last is....(not in order!)
Button: After Alonso is given another donkey in 2017 from McLaren he spits the dummy and quits mid season after signing a new 2 year deal with Merc for 2018 & 19.
The janitor is given the reserve role until Button's 2018 race contract kicks in. Honda finally get their engine humming and Button wins the championship in 2018. He then pulls a Rosberg and retires (again)

Re: Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
Button is retired and not coming back, also it's unlikely that McLaren will go from being a donkey to the best car in a single season when the rules are probably not going to be changing?

Re: Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
For all the complaining about domination making for boring seasons there seems to be an inordinate number of people who want their favorite to win 3 or more of the next 5 titles.

Re: Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
Although I agree it's likely we'll never see him race in F1 again - Jenson is technically McLaren's reserve driver. If Alonso did have a paddy and leave mid-season, JB would be back in the seat.pokerman wrote:Button is retired and not coming back, also it's unlikely that McLaren will go from being a donkey to the best car in a single season when the rules are probably not going to be changing?
Re: Who do you want to win the next 5 championships?
Back on subject.
It worries me that hardly anyone is picking a non-current driver for glory in the next 5 years - not even as far ahead as 2021.
Admittedly, I'm not as up on the feeder formulae than some on here, but 5 yrs ago, I'm not sure I knew much about the likes of Verstappen and Vandoorne.
Anyway, my prediction
2017: Hamilton (Mercedes) or Ricciardo (Red Bull)
2018: Verstappen (Red Bull)
2019: Vandoorne (McLaren)
2020: Hamilton (Ferrari) And then retires.
2021: Someone I'm not aware of entering within the previous few years (Renault).
I'd pretty happy with that.
