Good luck with that, I remember last time when a driver tried to get a chassis from Brawn (poor poor Jenson!)
I think Brawn knows he owes Michael something after three years of mediocre cars and results. He owed Jenson nothing really.

Minichamps? What are they?
Model car company. Very accurate models but in my opinion overpriced especially as they're made inexpensively in China.

It's a shame this didn't work out for Schumi. But eh, nobody can reasonably argue with 5 straight WDCs.

I felt a bit sorry for Michael yesterday. He was running in 7th place when he got his puncture. Seems like all of his luck is completely gone. The reason I felt sorry is not because I wanted Mercedes to have points, but because Schumi could easily have been racing around like he couldn't care less. The fact he still stays motivated for a complete GP knowing it'll be all over soon, and knowing how the season could have looked a lot different if he hadn't had all the failures, seems enough for me to cheer a bit for him :)

MS didnt get pole in Monaco, Mark Webber did. MS started 6th.

IN MY OPINION, Mercedes owes him nothing. He's been paid millions over the last three years and delivered nothing for the team. In fact, he's been a waste of time.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's been a waste of time, i'm sure he has given the team a lot in the way of knowledge and experience even if his driving has struggled since his return. Teams don't just give away race cars, i'm sure he has helped a lot. He does need to vacate that seat though.

Can we just remind everyone in this thread that it is neither a Michael Schumacher Supporters Thread. It isn't a thread designed for people to be constantly negative about him either. It is a discussion thread and so positive and negative opinions are allowed.

In my opinion Michael has struggled to contribute to the development of Mercedes as a racing team and here’s why:

There’s no in season testing which Michael excelled at and he can't even test using the race simulator as he gets motion sickness from using it. He also hasn't appeared to be able to get tuned into the tyres, in marked contrast to his Ferrari days when they were made exclusively to his needs.

He has been paid well in the expectation that the team would at least be the best midfield team or begin to challenge the leading teams of Redbull/Ferrari/MClaren. I think the writing was on the wall earlier this year when Kimi returned from his time out and achieved more in a few races in what is considered a midfield team with a limited budget, than Michael had achieved in the previous two years with a factory team.

What he has excelled at is stroking the egos of the Mercedes senior execs and their sponsors, Brawn’s most glowing accolade since Michaels return was ‘you should have seen him with the sponsors’.
Says it all really, it’s not about the winning it’s all about the money, money, money $$$$$$$$$.

Where to start!

I'd like to see a link from a reputable source stating that Bridgestone (in Schumi's Ferrari days) "were made exclusively to his needs".

Were any of the drivers "able to get tuned into the tyres" at the beginning of the season? IMO it was down to how 'easy' the CAR was on its tyres - but I agree that Schumi probably found it particularly difficult to adapt to racing around the tyres.

"I think the writing was on the wall earlier this year when Kimi returned from his time out and achieved more in a few races in what is considered a midfield team with a limited budget, than Michael had achieved in the previous two years with a factory team." - Kimi walked into a FAR better car than the Merc! The Merc has been (apart from a couple of races) a midfield car for the last 3 years, whereas Lotus have been a front-runner this season - certainly better than the Merc at the vast majority of races.

Everyone who hates Schumi always brings up the Bridgestones. And he had launch control on the Benetton. What else can we say about him that was never proven?

What's most annoying about these hater commernts is that Mercedes won in China and MSC probably would have finished second. Merc threw a ton of money into F1 and goes to show you how money spent unwisely is money lost. I wouldn't go as far as to say MSC or Rosberg are the two best drivers on the grid but in this age of F1 where machinery is paramount to success, if either Merc driver was in a RBR, Ferrari or mclaren they each would have won 2 or more races this year. I don't know how people can't see it. It's like they turn on the race, fall asleep, wake up for an incident and conclude Schumacher sucks. All these guys are pretty darn good, mentally and physically fit. If the car stinks, you ain't winning, get it once and for all.

Yes that is why Lotus were testing a coanda exhaust for a long time but didn't commit to it until they were satisfied the benefits outweighed the costs.

Mercedes don't care about the race results any more so they just put it on Michaels car to get some on-track data for next years car. They knew it would be crap in the race.
