Official 2016 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread

Post by UnlikeUday »

This is Hamilton's best chance yet since the last few races to lead from the front & win his 1st race of 2016.

A great fight between Red Bull & Ferrari is on the cards & how the strategies will pan out remains to be seen.

Just hoping (for a change) that every car can get through Lap 1 unscathed. No broken wings or floors, no punctures, no mechanical problems or failures... and then let's race from there.
PF1 Pick 10 Competition:
- 6 victories (Germany '20, Italy '19, Mexico '18, Singapore '18, USA '17, USA '16, Mexico '16),
- 7 podiums

- 2014 Championship 6th position
- 2016 Championship 9th position

Agreed, it's always a given that the first race of the season will be a lottery so that was fine. Next race it was kind of fun and a novelty that forced a massive mix up in the race. After that it was simply infuriating! I just want to see a proper clean race without any issues and just see where everyone ends up on natural pace... I guess what I want is just a plain old boring race. Please be boring.

But the Ferrari's generally have the best starts so there will probably be a big squeeze at the start. Just have To wait and see and how everyone comes out alright.

And no reliabilityissues for any of the cars, if not that then atleast no more issues for the same people who already had a few.
I'm looking forward to the race and I'm hoping that Hamilton will be on the top step. Rosberg has been good but he hasn't been properly challenged yet.
And I think Hamilton has shown that little bit more speed in the car for the most races before he has been hit with reliability issues or been involved in accidents.

Just for interest, RIC vs VES, their stints in FP2.
Probably doesn't count for much as it all comes down to who gets in front at the start in Catalunya:

It'll be good to see now onwards if Red Bull are even in the mix or shall I say, the same tier as Ferrari & take a sniff at Mercedes exhaust fumes more often.

I heard Ferrari changed their setup before Quali, and that's why they suffered, but they changed it for Sunday's weather. Why, what
changes are predicted for today's weather?

Also, based on practice times, does anybody think McLaren will actually move forward and be the fourth best team today? They do not have quali-engine modes, and yet managed to get into Q3. I am predicting they'll be the fourth best team today, and maybe at Monaco too, behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.

And then the real hard part will begin of catching those 3.

I kinda hope the same, a bit less amateur looking. But the problem there is that almost everyone seems to have qualified in order for a change so it could well be a very dull race of tyre and fuel management today.

It's always so terrible to have the two dullest races back to back every season, Spain and Monaco. I'm just hoping for some excitement, any... :)

I'm desperately hoping for, not necessarily a boring race, but at least an orderly race. Monaco can be a crashfest, it needs something to spice it up. But this week I want a race that is nice and clean. We haven't had one this year, it'd be a nice change.

For qualifying, the cars can go flat out for a good lap without having to be concerned with harvesting and limiting use of electrical power as well as plain fuel use.
I expect to see the Ferraris more competitive than the Red Bulls in the race proper.

If the Red Bulls can hold enough pace out of the corners to keep with the Ferraris, the DRS will help them along and possibly allow them to jump back infront late in the race.

I have foreboding with Max v Kimi though :]

I have a feeling that Ricciardo will win this race and make it 10 different drivers that have won the Spanish gp.

Spain I can understand but Monaco?

Seeing cars running so close to the barriers throughout the entire lap is so nerve-wrecking. Even though overtaking out is there is limited, I thoroughly cherish Monaco.

Unless we have a wet race, the historic racing I've just watched will have been far more entertaining that the F1 race. It normally is.

There are always 2 schools of thought on Monaco - those who love seeing the cars pushing on the edge with no margin for error and those who want to see battles and overtaking. There is no one group that is right - that said I'm in the former camp. Always enjoy Monaco
