Official Australian GP Thread

Post by UnlikeUday »

The battle again seems between the Mercedes for the win but behind them, everything is unpredictable.

The Toro Rossos look good for the race.

Perez looks good from a strategic point of view as he's the first driver to get the option of choosing a different tyre compared to the top eight.

Hope McLaren be competitive enough & reliable enough to run the entire race.

Ditto for Haas.

No rain predicted for the day, race should be dry.
Danger is real, fear is choice.

Fabulous day - blue sky, light winds, sunny, 23 degrees (perhaps a bit hotter would be better) - but very nice :)

The conditions bode well for Mercedes. Ferrari generally do better against Merc the hotter it gets.

James Allen just said that they've decided this morning to free up the new radio communication rules.

Tactics are now allowed to be discussed over radio during the race.
PF1 Pick 10 Competition:
- 6 victories (Germany '20, Italy '19, Mexico '18, Singapore '18, USA '17, USA '16, Mexico '16),
- 7 podiums
- 2013 Rookie of the Year
- 2014 Championship 6th position
- 2016 Championship 9th position

There is just something fundamentally broken within the sport when it comes to who comes up with the rules and who decides to implement them.

It's embarrassing frankly for a major sport.
"Clark came through at the end of the first lap so far ahead that we in the pits were convinced that the rest of the field must have been wiped out in an accident."

So they've dropped what was literally the single best idea they had to improve the racing at the last minute. Brilliant as ever.

I was really looking forward to drivers going off strategy and the teams not able to do anything about it.

I don't think it's a good idea at all. It's just another rule in a sport that already has far too many. What's worse it's a rule that is highly subjective and will undoubtedly lead to arguments whenever it is enforced.

Is it just me or is live timing missing the gap interval?

Nice to see Verstappen not crumble and jump out of the way like Massa did. I hope Toro Rosso stay near the front for as much of the season as they can, a real opportunity for Max to cement his reputation.

What a dumb arrogant move by Rosberg at he first corner. Loses 2nd place and nearly takes out Hamilton. Only reason he moved so far left was to stop any chance of Hamilton getting through.
