2015 Spanish GP Free Practice Thread

Post by Saz »

Only 30 or so mins until FP1 and no thread yet? I shall make it so then.

I think it will be intresting to see the effects of the updated cars. Ferrari seem pretty confident, hopefully they have closed in a little on Mercedes. Also intrested to see if McLaren can gain some more speed and reliability.
The two most powerful warriors are patience and time…so remember: great achievements take time, there is no overnight success.

16 new parts on the Ferrari. Are they throwing to many new bits on the car?

It will be a walk in the park for Merc this weekend, the track suits them very much and not so much Ferrari.

Rosberg could be in trouble with entering the pit lane on the wrong side of the bollard.

He is under investigation.

No vision, so how do you enter the pits on the wrong side of the bollard?

A quick report from the circuit from a first time visitor:

* beautiful day
* hardly anyone here
* GP2 cars sound wonderful
* more than a little disappointed that having traveled half way across the globe that one of drivers I came to see spent 5 minutes on track in FP1.
* it will set you back 11 euros for a pint of non alcoholic cats pi55
* no Alcohol can be purchased at the track and it will be confiscated at the gate
* great spots to view in GA but that isn't enough to to bring me back
* recommend others travel to Barca to see what is a wonderful city then watch the race from your hotel or a bar
PF1 Pick 10 Competition:
- 6 victories (Germany '20, Italy '19, Mexico '18, Singapore '18, USA '17, USA '16, Mexico '16),
- 7 podiums
- 2013 Rookie of the Year
- 2014 Championship 6th position
- 2016 Championship 9th position

So much for McLaren making a step forward at Catalunya. Still 3 secs behind.

Anyone watching it?

I wondered how Palmer was doing. He is above Maldonado in the table, but that does not tell much

At least Arrivabene had an armband with the number 27.

I always take my camera case, without a camera in it, to smuggle in a 4 pack of beers. My friends take hip flasks of alcohol and you are allowed to take in soft drinks. If you use your imagination you can always get a 4 pack in :lol:

In contract to Spa where people walk in with a 24 pack on there shoulder 8)

The prices of drinks at the Spanish GP and disgusting. £5/£6 is acceptable but £8/£10 is crazy.

yep... water leak...

edit: he's now officially on his 4th (and last penalty-free) ICE...
How to fix F1:
1. Stop seeking consensuses on rules - it will always turn out to be the least favourible option for everyone involved...
2. Listen to the fans - there are plenty of them and they have good ideas...

Renault should be embarrassed. The unit is a lemon.

RBR are staring at a lost season. Even with the new nose, the Torro Rossos were faster than Kvyat in FP1. The RB11 is a midfield car. Red Bull's time on top is over.

Red Flag. Rear bodywork of Lotus shatters down the main straight.

Source: @F1

that is worrisome... iirc it's the 2nd engine cover disintegrating, the first one to be doing so in this spectacular manner... could become a potential safety issue...

Lotus will have some explaining to do.

Apparently adjusting ride height and torsion bars to get more performance out of Sector 2. Still in the groove but perhaps something will burst his bubble.

If it's hot tomorrow too, expect the Mercs to struggle on tires.
