another under 5 hours to go and no race thread? So here goes !

Super excited for this one. The track is a bit naff, and I think Hamilton is going to leave Rosberg behind, but im looking forward to a great scrap between Mclaren and Williams. Who knows, perhaps Button and Bottas have a chance of at least interfering with the Mercs?

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Rosberg found himself in P3 by the end of the race, with either of the above finishing ahead.

Hoping the Red Bulls can have an influence in the last stint. No doubt Andrew Davies overtake of the race will be Hamilton on a backmarker.

In Canadia at the minute. I have a channel in my hotel room called TSN22. Will that show the race..? Damn it's past midnight already and I'm off to Toronto in the morn...

Every bit possible. I see Bottas jumping Rosberg at the start as the latter is starting on the dirty side of the track or being slip streamed before turn 1.
By the way, is this the longest run to turn 1 in the calender? It certainly looks longer than Barcelona.

The GP2 race yesterday was pretty good.. The long run through turn 1 down to turn 2 was producing some decent slipstreaming, so the start of the race is going to be interesting.. Although the GP3 race was very boring!

If Hamilton gets away clean, and has no problems - it should be a comfortable first place. But I have a niggling feeling reliability is gonna play a part today. Bottas has every chance of beating Rosberg off the line, which I'm sure would hinder his race greatly!

GP3 race this morning got pretty dicey at the end, big smash at the start though which I think is a danger for the midfield in the race.

Sochi circuit looks great, hopefully it won't disappoint me.

The run to turn 2 is so long Hamilton will need to get off the line perfectly otherwise the other will be in his slip stream.

It's not technically the longest turn into T1, as T1 is the small kink at the start. Must be the longest flat out start though. Hoping Rosberg passes Hamilton, otherwise, the championship would become stale.

After watching him in practice, I have a horrible feeling Hamilton is going to over cook it at some point during the race.
If he has a big enough gap early enough he may ease back, but he does not tend to, he likes 100%
Lets hope he does not put himself out though.

Should be an easy streets win for Hamilton who appears to have Rosberg in his pocket at this stage of the season. I actually think Bottas could split the Mercs further piling on the misery for Nico.

Turn 2 is going to be very tricky. Drivers will have to be cautious because it'll be very easy to go straight through it, if the turn is misjudged.

A lot of steward actions may be on the agenda.

Turn 2 is going to be used by half the drivers in the first lap at best if the support races are anything to go by.

Awful, awful turn to have at the start of a race.

I think there will be a safety car this race and can see Lewis winning quite comfortably.

Hamiltons only problem today after reliability will be the safety cars and we could see it come out a few times today and change to outcome of the race.

I am not a big fan of nationalism and this anthem thing with the drivers must be a massive distraction for them - apparently it's going to happen every race from now on.

I understand Russia being proud to host a Grand Prix, but they are laying it on a bit thick. Hopefully they tone things down after this first event.

Yes, I switched on late and they were just about to do it. My first thought was "has he dies?" I do think it is a bit premature but OTOH I understand if people choose to express their grief in their own ways

On mine it says its on tsn, tsn 3 and tsn 4. You should have those channels.

I'm still not really in to this race, for many reasons. I'd be pretty glum too.

What the heck? A "Minutes Silence" for a man that was INJURED a week ago? He didn't DIE people...pretty grim. (I know his chance of a recovery is remote at best, but this seems really inappropriate.)
