Apart from the usual Alonso or Ricciardo, I would even consider Hamilton. Raikkonen a 4th.

Kimi had a great race, a shame for his qualifying, best race of the season for him, he spent half of the race behind a slow Massa and was 25 s behind Alonso...

Has to be Alonso... simply because of the car he drives (look at what Kimi achieves with the same car) and the fact he managed to keep two Mercedes at bay with completely worn out tyres.

Alonso and Ricciardo were quite clearly the most impressive, but Alonso is even more clearly my driver of the race today. One mistake at the end of the race is the only thing against him - in some other races, that would put any driver out of contention for DotD, but Alonso being the only one of the initial top 4 who lost several places during the first SC to maintain a good position throughout the race - and that in a Ferrari - actually gives him that title in favour of a driver who benefited from the very same situation.

It has to be noted that both Ferrari had good pace today, and the two drivers were quite equal in pace, but Alonso ended up in trouble due to circumstances he couldn't do anything about and got out of there with the one thing he could do something about, driving the car. I'm no Alonso fan by any definition of it, but he was the best driver today. His drive reminds me a bit of my DotD of the last race, who also finished second.

I also gave a vote for Vergne as an honourable mention more than anything - he held up Rosberg for a long time and fought very hard to maintain his position. I will also mention Räikkönen's drive as a good one, but not voting for him.

Easily Alonso, anyone else with those tyres would have been off the track and way out of the fight for a podium.

In all fairness, he was off the track and stayed in the fight for a podium - some may even argue that it was because of just that.

The top 3.

Dan drove brilliantly and can really race.

Alonso was brilliant as always punching well above his cars weight.

Hamilton came from the pitlane all the way up to third. Pulled of an incredible first half of the race.

Alonso was just amazing. At the start when skills were highlighted rather than the car, he shined.
Ricciardo is naturally second one.

As a Finn it's nice to see Kimi getting some success and driving clean race for once this season.

agreed, dan's overtakes are becoming my favourite part of sundays, and alonso's last 10 laps were something incredible, he was all over the place on spent tyres but somehow managed to be exactly where he needed to be exactly when he needed to be to block lewis every time.

equal best dan and alonso for me.

Ricciardo. Faultless in tricky conditions.

Alonso made a couple of mistakes, Hamilton binned it on the first lap and was lucky not to do more damage.

Well I vote Lewis simply because to get a podium and beat his team mate from the pits was breath taking. Lewis may well have won had Alonso not cut the chicane.

i went for Alonso. had bad luck with the first safety car but still recovered from 8th to finish 2nd.

Ricciardo did a great drive, but had a nice bit of luck with the first safety car.

Surely Alonso today.
Daniel had great end to the race, but it all worked out perfectly for him right from the 1st safety car. In the end on much fresher tyres in superior car.
Alonso drove brilliant race even after getting disadvantaged due to safety car. Two of them actually when he again decided to stay out during second safety car.

Has to be Ricciardo! There's no way he should have finished where he did in that car. Incredible performance by him. The only person who came close was Alonso but the fact that Ricciardo managed to out drive even him just reinforces his DOTD performance today. In fact the only real reason Alonso finished where he did was because they stretched the tyres massively and then defended hard.

Realistically Hamilton should have been able to take Fernando at the end there, but coming from so far back he earnt respect for even finishing where he did. And merc massively botched rosbergs strategy today. I don't even know what they did. It's almost like they assumed the win through such a dominant car and didn't bother to actually plan anything for him.

Alonso is the maestro. When you consider that he is driving at best the fourth best car on the grid and maybe even worse, consider that he was one of those who lost out in the first safety car, yet despite all this he came within laps of winning the race. Rosberg, Vettel and Bottas all driving faster cars and in better track position than Alonso all went nowhere in the race. He managed the tyres well to pull off the one stop strategy but the magic was in the moments after the safety car where Alonso on the tricky drying track overtook all of them in a few laps.

Ricciardo drove an excellent race but he definetly got a great benefit with the safety car which took him straight to the lead. Hamilton did a great comeback drive but it was so good that really he looked like he was in a good position to win it at half distance.

Has to be Alonso. Even by his standards that was a pretty special drive. Was gutted when Ricciardo passed him at the end as his performance was deserving of a victory but 2nd is still an unbelievable achievement considering he was screwed over by the first safety car period.

Ricciardo and Hamilton were also very impressive today, though both had a bit of help from the safety car.

Still took a brilliant drive to pull it off. The safety car didn't overtake any cars for him.

If he'd driven it in reverse you'd still find a reason why he's not one of the best of the day.

I actually think Mercedes screwed both of their drivers out of good chances to win.
They should have pitted Hamilton and Rosberg before Alonso pitted and put them on fresh softs.
Driver of the day was Ricciardo. Fantastic win and he had to make great passes to do so.
Alonso and Hamilton were right up there also.
Rosberg's inability to pass Vergne was just awful. This guy is only top class in clean air.
Hamilton was straight past when he got behind him.

"Fixed" that for you, since he benefitted more than one time. Impressive drive nevertheless ...

But for me Alonso was the driver of the day and I for one think, that he did not get a big advantage by cutting the chicane (and "waiting" a bit afterwards). Hamilton had the gap already closed again at the end of the lap.
