This one is the Styrian GP - Austria is the next one (just to avoid confusion). Already changed the title in my reply ;)

A wet weekend is in store.

'According to Weather.com there is a 92 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms on Friday and 75 percent on Saturday. On Sunday there are now only thunderstorms predicted in the afternoon but then is the race. On Sunday it is also suddenly three to four degrees warmer than on the other days, but the chance of rain is still 52 percent.'

A completely wet weekend would be great but I hope we don’t get thunderstorms as I imagine that would mean a red flag.

Good. More gravel. I like it. BUT. It's not enough. The carpet after the curbs needs to go with more gravel in its place. Lets start getting some goold ol gravel traps in place. I'd even go as far as to say. Get rid of the curbs. We dont need them. THE WHITE LINES DEFINE THE TRACK

Obviously that’s better but I don’t think the green asphalt/tarmac needs to be there at all. Let’s them run up on the kerbs and that’s it.

Friday will likely be a complete washout, which means very little to no setup time.

That may be for MotoGP.
Again, one may argue that a rider should not be out there but the counter-argument is that there is a little leeway for a rider to go slightly wide (with a 'long lap' penalty for three indiscretions) before hitting the gravel which will almost certainly result in a fall and possible injury.

I guess that in F1 the quali sessions would be littered (pun intended) with yellow and red flags if there was gravel right outside the optimum racing line.

Perhaps they should also let a load of cats loose to do their business in the litter a day or two before the F1 circus shows up. That alone should dissuade anyone from stretching the limits!

For all the criticisms levelled at Seb over the years, he's a good person. Ultimately he's probably right about breaking that seat too.
Anyone in or near North Wales interested in an RC car racing tournament?

Hamilton will be hoping for rain, I cant see anything than a Verstappen pole and with the RBs straight line speed I cant see them losing.

Max will get the pole and the win. The Red Bull is much better than the Mercs. Maybe, Mercs are rueing their decision to halt this year's car development and focus on next year.

I will be surprised if Hamilton wins another race from this point on. The Red Bull has a faster straight line speed, which is one big factor if you want to over take someone.

Unless Max has few DNFs and LH wins those races, I dont see how its gonna be close. The WDC gap will keep on increasing.

Assume Bottas has issues too as he hasn’t been out yet. Anyone know anything?

Edit: he’s out now. No issues apparently.

Was wondering if we'd get a sub 1 minute qualifying lap this year. Looks unlikely.

Last year's pole time was 1.02.9. and Max has just done a 1.05.4 in P2. Not sure we are going to have a 5 second improvement between now and qualifying. Maybe they could get close next weekend.

Shame that Lewis went wide. If not his lap would have been faster than his "invalid" lap.

Very happy to see DR in purple in the first sector. Keeping my fingers crossed for a Mclaren podium this weekend.

Apart from the comical side, I dread if this happened during the race in a populated pit box...

Bizarre Bottas:
This incident will be investigated after FP2. What You guys reckon? A reprimand or a penalty?

McLaren radio to FIA after Bottas' spin: "Michael that's absolutely ridiculous, he could have taken our guys out there, and the pit wall."

Masi: "Agree."

Penalty. If this happened in fully populated pits during a race, there would be terrible consequences. They shouldn't be lighting up the tyres like that if it makes them lose the rear

Not getting this. You are getting more wheelspin by leaving on a higher gear?
