Re: Official Australian GP Qualifying thread

The first run in Q3 decides the bottom three places in the session as 3 mins is not enough to get back in and go for another run. Might as well just to two runs of single lap quali in each session. Would make it more exciting.

Edit: screw that, it decides the bottom 4. What a joke.

Re: Official Australian GP Qualifying thread

They will change this in a couple races time. Less cars on track, more confusing, not enough time for teams to react etc. I'm going to British GP this year and I hope the brains trust can come up with something better than this mess by then. I'd like to be in the meeting when the bright spark pipes...

Impossible to work it out for the fans then though because on tracks longer than 90 seconds the previous 90 seconds won't have been sorted out before the next 90 seconds is up.

Re: F1 on pay-TV only in Spain for the first time EVER

That's how things slightly differ to the UK. We have two national broadcasters, one doesn't make any monies from commercials and the other is part subsidised, and as a result there are limitations placed on them in terms of what they can show. They are answerable to the licence fee payers, i.e. us....

The link between pay TV and diminishing viewership is strong. You know, I'm not sure. AFAIK viewership has been in decline for years before paywalls started becoming popular. That's why normal channels didn't want to pay huge sums for the broadcasting rights anymore (not enough ROI) which, in turn,...

Do I want to be entertained, yes please. A 'sport' would require some notion of a level playing field... One good thing, at least the team won't be able to 'coach' the drivers and feed them lap times. You only get a level playing field with a spec series. I'd settle for something approaching a leve...

I don't think there should be any problem with that. He didn't get any advantage whatsoever, did he? Would it have taken him longer if he stuck to the track? Off course.
