Re: Anybody else...
I'm not really impressed with the new V6 sound. Watching some clips of the cars around Jerez, they sound weak. Maybe it's because they're still shaking the cars down, and they're not up on race pace just yet. I've been watching F1 since I was about 4 years old in 1976. I went to my first race in 200...

Re: Any real incidents of a team sabotaging its driver?
This wasn't really sabotage per se. I would call it team tactics since "team orders" weren't allowed. There was a race in 2009 (I can't remember which race, but it was later in the season) when Barrichello was ahead of Button. Barrichello was called into the pits with only about 6 or 8 laps to go as...

Vettel....DUH!!! He's a machine, like it or not. Daniel MIGHT out-qualify him twice in the whole season.

Don't be stupid. Webber had trouble with starts even before he came to F1.Peter77 wrote:...Nobody did apart from Webber really. So for him to make this comment he is insinuating the team sabotaged his starts when you read between the lines. Very obvious but also very coy of him.

Re: Changes to Qualifying
F1 is digging it's own grave. First the change to watered down PC engines and now this. If they wan't to attract the casual viewers they need to stop introducing needlessly complicated rules. F1 has been digging its own grave for years. They come up with the most complicated "solutions" to their il...

Re: Bernie tips Rosberg for the WDC title '14!
I picked 1, 3, 7, and 13. Bernie is losing his mind. I wish he would retire. I've been a fan since about 1976 (at 4 years old). I'm getting very close to not following the sport any more. I'm sick of the politics and lame rules. I've stood by through some of the most polarizing, or unnecessary chang...

Re: Ugliest car in 2014
I voted for the Ferrari with its Dustbuster front end. I'm really surprised they couldn't smooth that out more. It seems like many other teams have lowered the front suspension mounting positions. Ferrari's has stayed the same since last year, or it might even be higher. I think they're not going to...

Re: Tail-happy 2014 cars?
Huh? How do you make more torque than horsepower? How do you even begin to compare both if they are not even measured in the same units. Torque and power, though related (through angular velocity; P = T·w) are two completely diffent physical concepts. You dont make one more than the other, that doe...

Re: Bernie slams new engine rules
Whoever is changing the rules and constantly changing things is not helping this sport at all. It is an expensive sport, we all know that, but I'm not convinced that spending millions of dollars developing engines intended to have about the same power while using ~ 30% less fuel is the right answer....

Re: You can make a difference this time
I vote strongly no against this ludicrous idea. How about this: Run all 20 races thru the season. Then after the season is over, put 20 balls uniquely labeled 1 thru 20 into a bucket. Ball #1 represents the first race, ball #20 represents the last race, etc. Have a blindfolded person (it could be AN...

Best looking car for me = Mercedes. Red Bull and McLaren tie for 2nd.
Most innovative = Lotus. Hands down. Kudos to finding a loophole that could give them an edge.
Best Livery = Force India.
Worst looking = Caterham, followed by Ferrari.

Re: Ferrari F14T Launch in 13 hours
Ferrari seems to have stuck with the pull-rod front suspension and similar geometry that was on the 2013 car. Then the nose cone that results is a hideous band aid. Like some others have said, I do like the variety of different designs. This one just looks the worst to me so far. Who knows, maybe an...

I think they all look fine so far. At least better than the stepped nose. They look MUCH better than the new Indy cars!! I can't even watch those any more. I actually haven't watched them since the 1994 (I think ???) IRL / CART split up.

I have to say, these new designs aren't looking as bad as I thought they might. I wonder if Lotus has found a loophole if their "two-pronged" front end is what their car will really look like??

Re: New 5 Second Pit Stop Rule
A pitstop is around 3 seconds these days, so all they would lose is about 2 secs if they were penalised under the rule. That still is a big amount if they are squabbling for position in the midfield. I think you're misreading it. I believe it means serve the 5 second penalty, THEN perform pit stop ...

NASCAR still has the problem of oval tracks. Knock out qualifying doesn't change that. I don't see how ovals can draw a crowd for 4-6 hours on Sundays. BOOOORRRRRIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!

Re: Pirelli signs till the end of 2016
One thing no one has brought up yet is the parameters with which Pirelli has been asked to build tires. "Make the tires that degrade rapidly as your prime criteria. Ignore performance." That's essentially what Pirelli has been asked to do. This is flawed from the beginning (like many other rules int...

The double points idea is even lower than DRS as far as racing purity goes. As a long-time fan, it's getting harder and harder to follow this series with all of its gimmicks. The rules and regulations keep getting more ridiculous each year. I'm not sure how much more I can take.

I say in qualy trim the cars will be about 3 seconds per lap slower. Much less rear downforce is probably the biggest factor.
