Re: Future of the Spanish Grand Prix

Whether the referendum was legal or not, is ultimately irrelevant. We don't know which course the Catalan politicians will choose for future action. And I believe the FIA have already considered this issue; I doubt Spain would do what Switzerland once did and organise their national GP in France, o...

Re: Future of the Spanish Grand Prix

Catalonia was once a country in its own right I'm not by any means an expert on Spanish history so I would like to ask when was Catalonia a country? As far as I am aware it was occupied by Greece, Carthage, Rome, Visigoths, Moors, then ruled by the Kingdom of Aragon and following the marriage of Fe...

Re: Future of the Spanish Grand Prix

Somehow, even as an F1 fan, the last thing on my mind when I was seeing people with their hands up being beaten with batons and fired on with rubber bullets, women being dragged by their hair, firemen beaten for standing in the way, was whether they will host an F1 race. Spain is a democracy. But it...

Re: Is Hamilton now rising to be the best of his generation?

The gulf between 'one of the best' and 'the best' is not possible to answer objectively.

One of the best of his generation. Definitely.

The best? I don't know. You don't know. He doesn't know.

Re: Is Hamilton now rising to be the best of his generation?

I think Hamilton would have won a race or two by now if he had been in a Force India or Williams since 2007, the ones where their existing drivers just got podiums. He would have been snapped up by McLaren within a season or two like Senna was by them. Vettel, Ricciardo and Verstappen had advanced ...

Re: Is Hamilton now rising to be the best of his generation?

We keep trying to compare drivers. You cannot reliably compare drivers in F1, unless they are in the same car, and even then there are team politics to confuse it all. Put Perez in a Mercedes and Hamilton in a Force India and suddenly the headlines would be about Lewis struggling and 'has he lost it...

The crash that took Vettel out after the initial hit on the start. Was it because of damage or did he actually lose it on his own?

If that's indeed the case, I suspect you've fallen prey to total and utter BS that many people fall for hook, line and sinker. Re: McLaren Renault deal

I agree Renault is not the best engine, but it is the best option available. Mercedes is not an option and neither is Ferrari.

At least they can hope that if their chassis is good they can be on the podium and even win a race like Red Bull have this year.

They have started the process of waking him up by removing sedation. They will know the extent of any brain damage once he is awake but the prognosis is positive as no surgery was required and his blood clots were being re-absorbed.

It is fair to praise Hamilton today for acting honourably with his team mate as it was plain and fair to see that it was his failure to honour a team agreement 10 years ago on the same venue that kicked it all off with Alonso (although Alonso's instant retaliation was not necessarily the wisest).

Angel Nieto might have been before the time of many here. I saw the tail end of his career. Great video. Interesting to see the often forgotten Vanwall team. The first British built-car to win a championship race, and also the winners of the first WCC in 1958. Unfortunately the team was short lived and was gone by 1961.

I get why Verstappen would want to move to Ferrari, especially if Vettel leaves, but I see as much chance of Red Bull producing a race winning car next year as Ferrari has, and in some ways even a better chance strategy-wise.
