How about grid kids? Pick some local racing kids and/or fans, let them in the middle of the spectacle for a few hours and enjoy it.

Re: Women's only series proposed
I’ll say the same thing I always say. Women, in significant quantities, just aren’t that interested in motorsports. The vast majority of young girls don’t take any interest in karting and as such never progress to anything near F1 level. This may be partially due to cultural bias though. Experiment...

Re: Women's only series proposed
Chess has the Women's World Chess Championship, yet also mixed championships. This years cars are a bit more physically demanding, but by the looks of the current drivers that shouldn't really be a significant factor I think.

The new hybrids will overwhelm the tyres with torque. I've been to 4 hybrid era grand prixes and see no sign of tyres "overwhelmed". None. The accelerator pedal has over twice the travel on the current hybrid V6 cars compared to the V8s before. That's to give the drivers a fighting chance of handli...

Rule enforcing like this could and should be done by computers. Real-time telemetry combined with computer vision should make this an easy job, and it would make things consistent and predictable. Stewards could verify just to make sure it's not an obvious wrong judgment due to a bug or similar.

One thing I like about the safety car is that it really reinforces just how quick the F1 cars are. You see the safety car on the limit and the F1 cars behind looking like they're in a parking lot looking for space.mikeyg123 wrote:With this tech I see no need for the safety car at all.

I can't help but feel that the FIA have done their research and have a positive case to introduce it - they know most fans think it's ugly as heck and they still go forward with it. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd like to see the scenarios that FIA have considered and their conclusions for each...

Regarding Alonso 2016, as much as it against a drivers instinct perhaps he'd have been better/safer staying strapped in the car with his spine effectively braced against the seat and waited to be extracted in a controlled way? I don't see the issue from a sportmanship-POV. When the opponent tries to make a pass, the driver tries to place the car in such a way that it becomes harder for the opponent to overtake. Same thing for me, especially considering Hamilton did not do any special moves except not using the loud pedal ...

True, but it's possible to say that it's equivalent to x horsepower, too, even if it's not actually an HP boost The power needed wil depend on the speed you want the 20kph added too and the drag coefficient of the car. At 100kph the number to add 20 will be far less than at 300kph. Without knowing ...
