Re: Official 2013 Abu Dhabi Race thread.
Overtaking is hard, so Pitstops might well hold the key. That said, it seems we are set for a one-stopper race, so choosing when to come in could be the only thing that makes the difference. Also gonna be interesting to see how cars like the Mclaren, which seems to be setup for overtaking fare.

Given how mighty Hamilton & Mercedes were in S3, and the fact that he was quite a bit up on his earlier time, i think he might well have been locked on for Pole. Shame!

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - Indian Grand Prix.
Vettel for passing all those out of position cars after coming in on Lap 2. That was one helluva risky strategy, but he made it work. Grosjean for a storming drive from 17th on the grid. Who knows what he could have done if he had started higher up today. Stunning indeed. Honorable mentions to Rosbe...

Re: End of race driver celebrations (donuts, antics, etc)
It was nice to see that. Pretty sure the crowd enjoyed it too. I think Vettel will laugh the reprimand off, given it was only his first of the season and he's unlikely to get 2 more within the remaining races to get him a grid penalty or anything of that sort.

Wondering how many outside the top 10 are gonna start on softs. The options might last longer on low fuel, but its gonna be a gamble either ways.

wow Webber on the medium matched the mercedes drivers on softs. Just shows how dominant that redbull is. basically a different formula. yep. They're between 0.5 and 1s per lap faster depending on compound. I think Vettel's Q2 time was also on the hards, and he was still faster than anyone else. And...

Re: 2013 India GP Free Practice and Qualifying Thread.
Alonso did a 1.24.5 in Q2 , a repeat could have earned him a front row start. Why not go for that ? Nope. He did a 1.24.8, which would have put him just behind Rosberg assuming he could have replicated that, but he ( like many others) went for the softs-are-eating-tyres-fast-on-full-fuel logic, and...

Where is the "don't really care". Only joking, I think that I heard Martin & Crofty say that it will be at the next GP if Vettel wins the race, no ifs or buts :D Pretty sure even if Alonso wins Vettel only has to finish 5th, That puts Alonso on 232, Vettel on 307 then if Alonso wins the next 3 race...

Re: Brawn: 'Hamilton, Rosberg evenly matched'
I think it boils down to how/why Hamilton destroyed his tyres in the second stint that much. Was it just due to those first two/three laps after his first pit stop when he nailed down a string of fastest laps, and followed that up with some slightly quicker/on par lap times with Vettel/Grosjean, or ...

Whoever made the call was definitely not thinking. I can understand trying it for a lap or two, but allowing him to keep lapping at a 3sec a lap slower time than those in front for that long was plain foolishness.
Reminds me of some of the bungles Merc made last year.

Yeah, i think Hulk pretty much signed his Lotus contract today. That said, if Merc had any brains at all, they would have pitted Hamilton a lot earlier and he'd probably be fighting with the lotuses now for 2-3-4. I guess Hamilton ate too much out of it getting racy being Grosjean. Its a fair point ...

My God Mercedes! Keeping Hamilton out this long, one might well think you don't want your drivers to do well in a race. How can they justify holding on to make a two stop work when they lost pretty much a whole pit stop time the way his tyres went off.

Well, we can all hope. But even if the renault Engine isn't as good as the Mercedes and Ferrari's ( and that's a big IF), the redbull might still not be off the pace. Its not a total reset from this year, like Permane was saying and Redbull will definitely carry forward some of that dominance.

Newey is the public face that people recognize from the redbull engineering team. I think the fresh set of supersofts did help him pull out a longer last stint. But the pace he set all throughout the race simply had no match, and if he didn't have the supersoft set, he would have probably opted for mediums and still won by the same Margin i believe, given both Alonso/Kimi were on...
