Re: Hunt v Rosberg
I hear Hunt was a real athlete, though? Didn't he do well in that old "Superstars" series? I think he could live a lifestyle similar to Hamilton and bring it to the race track. I'm assuming that we don't just transport him but at least let him grow up through a modern lens, while he retains his ess...

Re: Sportsmanship may be dead
Today I was watching the Leicester City/Sunderland match. At the 44 minute mark two opposing players had a nasty head clash. Of course the referee blew his whistle to protect the players, so they could receive proper attention. At the resumption of play it was Leicester City's possession, at approx...

Re: Rightio. Who's it gunna be??
I'm spamming a bit, but am just too excited about the prospects that have been created through Rosberg's retirement. I do wish he would have kept on, but his exit has given F1 a chance to create an era for the ages as long as Mercedes make a bold call and bring in a big gun. If this plays out as it ...

Re: Do you think Alonso would want to go to Mercedes?
Unless he is privy to some ridonkulous information regarding the progress of McLaren, should the option be there I imagine that Alonso will fight for the seat. He's in it to win it and he wants to also match Senna's 3 titles (no source at hand but I recall him saying that). I believe he deserves at ...

I tend to believe Hamilton when he consistently states that the very least he expects or asks for is equal status. He's said in the past that he'd like to be Vettel's team-mate one day, and again I tend to believe it.

It needs to be someone really good if Mercedes are to hold off the burgeoning wombo-combo of Ricciardo-Verstappen, who I have far more faith in winning the WCC than Ferrari should the cars be roughly equal.
Mercedes need someone who can be as good as Rosberg was, or better.

Re: Raikkonen vs Vettel
Vettel had a mediocre 2014 by his standards, and a dubious 2016. Why? When he had the zest and it mattered, he was arguably the best of the lot in 2015, so what gives? Is it ridiculous to suggest that in both 2014 and 2016, he was thinking of his contract situation - ergo, he wants out of Ferrari? W...

Took me a while for Nico's WDC to sink in. This is taking a while longer. I haven't felt this agitated and without answers since Senna left us. I'm really at a sudden loss. It must be a blow, though at least as a fan you got rewarded with what you ultimately desired from who (I think) is your favou...

I prefer Perez and Sainz to Bottas but think Bottas fits the Mercedes bill, so to speak. Really though, I think all three are upstanding racers of a similar ilk and would be suitable options for Mercedes.Peter McG. wrote:jeez so many bottas votes, expected ppl to forget he's actually a super solid driver

Re: The Official NICO ROSBERG thread
I just wonder if perhaps Rosberg might be called up by Ferrari, assuming Raikkonen retires maybe next year, to partner VETTEL; but Rosberg would likely decline with it being so soon. Just something to think about, maybe. Look at where the bosses voted him in terms of best drivers in the world recent...

Re: Nico Rosberg retires from F1, with immediate affect
I wouldn't put it past Nico Rosberg to return at one point. Yeah, in this exhausting and emotional aftermath his mind has been cleared to see a very definite direction, but two years down the road after the dust has settled he may well have the itch to return, but whether he'd have the clout to dema...

Re: Nico Rosberg retires from F1, with immediate affect
I mean, Max or Dan vs Lewis at Merc would be just as appetising as Vettel or Alonso, but I can't imagine how Red Bull part way with any of those two drivers under almost any circumstances. I think Alonso or Vettel is at least remotely possible, but not Verstappen or Ricciardo.

Best according to recent form, so 2-3 years or so.. this is just off the top of my head (alphabetical order by tiers): Alonso, Hamilton, Ricciardo Rosberg, Verstappen, Vettel Bottas, Button, Perez, Sainz The rest in some order (with Kimi heading) Since last I made such a list, I've demoted Vettel by...

I believe that Bottas would fit best into the main objectives of Mercedes. I'd prefer to see Perez or Sainz in the seat or for Mercedes to show trust in who they believe is a big talent in Wehrlein. In terms of pipe dreams, Vettel or Alonso would be great - and Lewis Hamilton would welcome it. Merce...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
A poster on a different forum wondered whether Merc. have told their drivers that they are not to overtake on corners. Looking at Schumacher's dominance over Barrichello and Senna's over Berger, compared to the closeness of Hamilton to Jenson and Rosberg when team-mates, and that Jenson and Rubens were close-matched in 2009: could it be that Schumacher and Senna were on a another level compared to Hamilton? I can tell you who I find to be the most interesting: Wehrlein. Re: 2016 German Grand Prix Qualifying Thread
Good lap by Nico under pressure, lost a couple tenths in S3 but still enough. Not bad for someone who can't handle pressure ;) I thought Hamilton would make up the tenth or so by nailing S3, and at a glance it did look better than Rosberg's but in reality it was about even. That was a super tidy mi...

Toto recently reiterated that their team run two number one drivers. I think it has always been the case. Rosberg is a co-number one driver who just happens to perform slightly worse than his team-mate. I think the mantra at McLaren also yielded the same situation between Button-Hamilton.
