Re: Why Did Ron DENNIS leave F1

Just to be clear Neti, that's your take, yes. Because I don't think your theory had been confirmed anywhere has it. I'd forgotten about the details of the Trulli incident. So basically, if Hamilton had held position, all would have been well. Extra naughty trying to say Trulli overtook under yellow...

Re: 6 World Champions on the grid, but HOW do you rate them?

I'm a bit amused to see Schumacher still rated so highly. Is sportsmanship not a factor in rating sportsmen? Hi, Fiki I know that you are not a Schumi fan by any means, and I understand that. However, I read the OP's question as a ranking of the driver's skill, and in that case, it is quite difficu...

Re: Why Did Ron DENNIS leave F1

*shaking my head* Here we go again! Again we see a whitewashing of scandalous actions by McLaren by "misguided" fans and again we see the conspiracy theorist coming out in numbers. McLaren has benefited by FIA & race stewards decisions at times as well as having been hurt by them, as have all ...

Re: CAR PORN!

OB1, You beat me by one year, I got mine in '70, traded it off for a brand new Comet GT in '71. The 283 in the Chevy was just not enough engine for me with that size a car. It cried for the 396 or the 427. The one you linked to is a '63, I believe...and a 409 was the only way to go in that year, th...

Re: Ferrari hired Mika Salo as Test Driver

Come now... some of you seek to find a conspiracy the minute you see the word Ferrari. *shaking my head in amusement" A 10 year retired driver, in a 2 year old car, without current racing tires, on Ferrari Days in Japan. Just what in the world do you think Ferrari can gain that will help with the cu...

Re: F1 without Ferrari: how would it be?

Depends... I see your point, everyone wants someone to cheer and boo in the theatre of sport, but a dislike of Ferrari is not just because of a need to have an arbitrary, catoon-esque, Dick Dastardly baddy. It's more (in my case at least) a wellfounded distaste at their power and influence within t...

Re: F1 without Ferrari: how would it be?

If Ferrari at any times feels that F1 is irrelevant for their marketing purposes, they might well quit F1. Yes, F1 has been their "advertising" for 60 years, but the name is well established, and they could indeed do OK with representation in other sports, such as Sports Car racing... ie LeMans. Tha...

Re: Team Fan or Driver Fan?

I have been a Ferrari fan since 1961, and have never wavered, though I did share some "love" for the Dan Gurney Eagle team. Even through "drought" years, I still cheered for Ferrari, you McLaren & Williams fans know about that stuff too, don't you. 8) It makes life easier and cheaper. I can buy Ferr...

Re: Team Fan or Driver Fan?

As seems almost obligatory as an American, I like Vettel and Kimi and a few others. I'm not really concerned with teams, though I enjoy that aspect of F1. In that regard, I suppose I miss the highs and lows of following a team through thick and thin but I have other sports for that. I'd just like t...

I agree. His flashy, tacky image makes my already low opinion of the team much lower.
I am sure he is losing a lot of sleep over that.

Re: F1 without Ferrari: how would it be?

My, my.... don't we have some people who are a bit delusional in here. "nobody would miss them"??? Brabham left, no one missed them? No one missed Lotus? Even Ferrari's most ardent (at least those who are the least bit informed) critics would have to admit that it would be a blow to F1 if Ferr...

Re: Montoya on fireball crash at Daytona 500

Montoya and the jet drier driver were extremely lucky... that could have been so much worse. What an amazing turn of events... Montoya racing to catch up with the field, Jet Driers high on the track cleaning up during a caution...and something breaks on Montoya's car at just that moment and pushes h...
