Some of those names do bring back some memories. Titans of a time gone by, who as Blake said got along very well off forum. Also the leash was a little looser back then

Re: McLaren's financial problems
What I read is that they're doing very good and heading to the right direction. Title is misleading A company that is having financial issues is not going to admit it. They have spent an enormous amount of money on developing the road cars, and are yet to see a viable return. And the profits made b...

Re: Honda engines in 2015...
I still can't understand why McLaren chose to go with Honda, especially after the Peugeot experience. To expect the Honda engines to be competitive out of the box is expecting a bit much. They should've done what they did in the '80's when they got Honda. Let another team (Williams) help turn the en...

Re: Alonso & Webber reprimanded, 10 place grid drop for Webb
I'm much in favour of a fining system for this type of incidents than reprimand system which result in stupid grid penalties. Even though footage shows it was indeed dangerous I loved seeing the gesture. It reminded me of Mansell giving Senna a lift back in 1991. Exactly. The incident was a bit dan...

Re: Why do some people dislike Vettel so much?
His arrogance is a major turn off.
There are parallels with Schumacher , though Michael also had a bit of humility at times, and didn't act like a spoilt brat.
The notion that people dislike him because he is beating their favourite driver is downright childish.

Schumacher making Barrichello move over on the last corner of the 2002 Austrian Grand Prix (I think it was that race). Schumacher did not make Barrichello move, it was Todt or Brawn. My mistake, I never watched F1 in 2002. OK, but what I want to say is that no driver can issue a team order, the ord...

Its all boils back to the old "Schumacher" defence.
Whenever he was critisized for something unsporting, his fanbase always used the " Oh, but Senna did it too" comment.

People who should know better are trying to say that Vettel's action today is no worse than Silverstone '11. Webber was told to hold stationback in '11. In essence he did. He did not pass Vettel Vettel did not. He passed Webber. The completion of the act is EVERYTHING, as one driver robbed the other...

I think Vettel has been stung by the reaction to his action in passing Webber, hence this odd comment. Sort of reminds me of Austria 2002, when Schumacher was stunned by the reaction to his undeserved win.

People can go on about Vettel being a racer, and all that jargon. The fact of the matter is he was told to hold station, and he didn't. Not even Schumacher ignored a team order (mainly because all were in his favour). Very poor form by Vettel. RBR will surely sweep this under the carpet, as they do ...

Not a good look when the fans boo, though I think it's done when they feel they've been robbed of a proper result, or an injustice has occured.
Austria 2002 springs to mind. This case is a bit odd as it also involed team orders, though this time they were ignored

It's funny how us Europeans stick our noses up at older American muscle cars. I've had a ride in both a '65 E Type, and a '65 Corvette with a 427 V8.
One handled like a pig, was severley uncomfortable, and felt like it was going to fall apart everytime it hit a bump.
It wasn't the Corvette..

I don't see it happening, quite frankly. If Perez signs for Mclaren, Telmex will replace Vodafone as title sponsors, as is normal in F1 a commercial decision not a racing one. Why else would any team principal sign a driver who came 4th in F3, 12th & 2nd (to Maldonado) in GP2 and who is marginally faster than Kobayashi in F1 when there ar...

Webber has been a bit off the past few races, but he is still only 10 points behind the driver that is second in the championship. Actually Ron Dennis mentioned the status issue in an interview in F1 Racing magazine in the late 90's, so it's a bit more than a media beat up. Whilst Ron is still alive I don't see the trophy situation changing. Ron has a massive ego, and if the negotiations came down to this, he'd probably let Lewis walk. Although it looked aggresive, I don't think Alonso's move was worthy of a penalty, nor was it illegal.
Perhaps it would have been different had it been like the chops Schumacher used to pull, where he had a car literally alongside him.
