Re: How are "they" getting it so wrong?
I don't buy the rubbish about the engines being how they are because manufacturers are refusing to enter F1 because the old engines didn't relate to current road engines (the Audi example is poor, as they have V8's and V10's in their line up). Just because Mr Plod drives a 1.6 litre buzz box doesn't...

Irrespective of the PR bullsh** from McLaren about their budget being fine for 2014, it's surprising how a team of this calibre is struggling to find a title sponsor.

Re: How would you react if Ferrari were to leave F1?
This is moot point really. Ferrari leaves = sponsors + big % of TV audience + TV broadcasters leave. As simple as that. If Ferrari go, they will go racing somewhere else. F1 in past has survived loss of some iconic teams. But most of those team first went to back of the grid and then disappeared. F...

Re: How would you react if Ferrari were to leave F1?
I think you will find that Ferrari has been fairly profitable, even during the serious economic decline for Fiat. Ferrari had probably their most profitable year last year, with a profit of approx. $150 million. On that alone they would find it hard to justify their current F1 budget. It would be d...

I seriously doubt there's a clause about how loud it should be. If anything they'd have a clause about it not exceeding a certain dB limit. Which is what the Australians have been complaining about for years, how loud it is. Ironic really. Rubbish... It's a handful of feral tree huggers who whine a...

Easy to say that in his position. If he was trying to advance from the back of the grid with Marussia's budget he would be moaning too. Or if say Marrussia were bought out by a multi billionaire and gave them an unlimited budget and they dominated for the next ten years. Would he be against it then...

Re: what was tire war like??
First on the tyre war... I don't think it was healthy for F1 as it gave some teams an artificial advantage, whether it was from either one brand not performing well at a certain track or a particular team having bespoke tyres. I would say the advantage Ferrari had in the early to mid 2000's by havin...

Re: Could Honda perform engine testing using a 2014 chassis?
Any form of testing using a current chassis is banned Well not this year. There are 3/4 in season tests planned for 2014. Would Mclaren be permitted to fit a Honda engine into their car for one of these tests? Don't know if Mercedes will agree with allowing that. It has been done before, back in '9...

Yes, agree on most points. One thing that plays on my mind is this perception that Honda will be a title sponsor next year, or stump up extra cash. After blowing a bucket load of Yen when team owners , they may not want to go beyond being anything more than an engine supplier. We'll know in 12 months

The one thing people are forgetting with his so called "apologies" and "regrets" is that they have all come a fair time after the event, mainly because he's been stung by the public perception and backlash that his actions created. It's no comparison. Villeneuve made a meal out of winning the 97 title. His car advantage was that huge it shouldn't have got down to Jerez. Getting back to the original question, Ferrari lost a bit of it's mystique during and after the Schumacher years. Not through any fault of Schumacher's, the team just had to evolve. I think today's crop of drivers (the top 4 or 5) are better than comparative groups in recent memory. True, but Dennis and Ojjeh are quite close so with their combined equity they still have control.
Remember in the Merc days they may have had 40% ownership, but the Dennis/Ojjeh combination still had ultimate control. I think the only time Dennis will lose control is when he chooses to.
