Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix
Sainz, Norris and Perez, not necessarily in that order, though I enjoyed Sainz's efforts very much indeed. Care to explain the Perez one? Perez did a very good job, and I found judging others difficult watching only the world feed. I did have the live timing to look at from time to time and he did ...

Re: 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
Marko did say Perez wasn't struggling in the final stint. It was Perez's intent to not push too much & too hard as he had to maintain those softs for 20 laps. He did just enough to maintain about a three second gap so as to not let Sainz come in DRS position & also not push unnecessarily. I'm sure ...

Re: Christian Horner Allegations Thread
The report from the Warren Commission was published in full. That did not stop conspiracy theories and it may well have fuelled them. I agree, the Warren Commission didn't do a good job and was prejudiced by the FBI and the Executive Branch. The conspiracy theories were in response to a transparent...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
Nope... There would have been nothing questionable if Lewis wins behind the SC about fairness as you put it. Rules are clear, all cars must be unlapped, how could you complain that why the RD didnt remove just the cars between Lewis and Max for the sake of fairness, then dont wait until they reach ...

No because Mercedes fans can show that how the race was conducted wasnt legal. If the race finished behind SC all you have is that you wanted to see Max win, thats not enough for claiming it is unfair that the regulations werent bended to make him win. Tomato, tomato... Nope... There would have bee...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
I disagree with your statement that the recent ICA has removed the 15.3 overriding authority as an argument. That case revolved around a mistake made by the GT race director, with her defence trying to explain that away claiming it was covered by the overriding authority. That was unwarranted, but ...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
The regulations don't state what you are claiming; there is no necessary end to the matter if that particular message isn't sent, other than to remove the requirement for all lapped cars to overtake, and for the SC to take an additional lap before coming in. Nowhere in that regulation is it stated ...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
From the driver perspective none. From the RD being the cause of that signal, 48.12 would be the problem because that mechanism was not followed which means the RD did not correctly make use of exception b) in 48.8 and the RD has no ability to control the other exceptions directly. That is to say e...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
Writing on phone so it is considerably harder to format neatly. 48.8 imposes the restriction since it points directly to article 48.12 if you want to allow cars to pass the safety car to unlap in exception B. The only allowed mechanism to unlap cars during a SC is via 48.12, there is no other allow...

Unfortunately while that means the drivers who overtook were not in breach of 48.8 under exclusion a) it does not absolve Masi of the same because the only way for Masi to inform the drivers to overtake is via exclusion b) "b) Under Articles 41.1c), 48.12, 51.6 and 51.12 below.". Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
Of course I think it was fair to restart the race after the SC, and especially so in this case; there was a race win and a championship to be decided, and it was correctly left to the drivers to decide it. It certainly puts pay to the idea that the "overriding authority" allowed Masi to do what he did as Fiki would argue. That isn't the argument I'm making. I've already stated that, in the context of the unlapping cars portion of the (2021) regulations, my personal interpretation of 'any' would be 'all' - but others (and that might include a court) may interpret it differently. I'm arguing that 'any' vs 'all' is not...

'Any' and 'all' are not akin to 'black' and 'white.' Replace 'any' with 'none' and you have a genuine comparison. https://www.michbar.org/file/generalinfo/plainenglish/pdfs/91_oct.pdf In a later case, the Michigan Supreme Court again held that the use of "any" in an agency contract meant "all ."
