Re: Should Bottas be getting nervous?
He needs to be a lot closer but he's got his contract so he wont be nervous. As sandman said because Ferrari have gone with Kimi it means Mercedes best bet is to back Lewis and have a driver good enough to beat Kimi and take the odd win away from Seb than it is to have a line up like RB and take po...

Well the simple fact of the matter is that there was enough space, so technically he did leave it at the time the accident happened. Anything else is just supposition Yeah, and a skydiver who’s parachute didn’t open, technically still has time to try and save themselves while 10 feet from the momen...

Re: Double standards FIA!
I've never liked the 'forcing another driver off the track' part of F1. I don't think it should be acceptable. They are supposed to race on the track - that's what it is there for. They could automate things to some extent. The outer edge of the white line could be the visual indicator of the outer...

Re: Alonso the points hoover
The OP confuses Alonso's cars' 'natural position' with Alonso's public statements about his cars. Calling the 2012 Ferrari the 4th best car is beyond ridiculous. If you make the massive assumption that Raikkonen was as good as Alonso in 2012 then you could make a case for it being 3rd best. I see t...

Re: How would Nico Rosberg be doing in 2017?
It just seems unlikely that Nico was the 'more vicious instigator' in the team - bearing in mind it took him a long time to mirror Lewis' aggressive race tactics (against his team mate!), not to mention AFAIK Nico hasn't fallen out with other drivers previously? On the other hand, Lewis has 'played ...

Difficult one, as (as others have pointed out), all those on the podium were there due to bad luck on the part of their team mates. Simply for putting in a genuinely good-paced and consistent performance, having been slated for so many races - Lance Stroll. For the same reason, I eventually voted fo...

Re: Forum opinion on Vettel/Hamilton incident
Lewis has a history of driving deliberately erratically behind the safety car. He doesn't accelerate out of corners intermittently and appears to try to cause chaos behind him. This goes back all the way to the 2007 Japanese GP, when Webber and Vettel (then at Toro Rosso) were behind Lewis. Lewis d...

Re: Forum opinion on Vettel/Hamilton incident
It is reasonable to expect a driver to accelerate coming out of such a tight corner. Hamilton's actions left a sour taste in my mouth. Vettel's response was unacceptable, he deserved the penalty. His response to the penalty smacks of poor theater, no one was fooled. Just like Hamilton, he is an exc...

Much as I enjoyed this race, it was more than annoying that the producers have decided to only show race order - i.e. only rarely time/gap differences between drivers.
It makes it far more difficult to keep track of what is happening on track.

Re: 2017 Spanish Grand Prix Race Thread
For some reason the 'quotes' are messed up when trying to reply to Laz-T800, but I agree - Seb's pass couldn't have happened without newer tyres and DRS.
But you're missing the point that even WITH these advantages he couldn't overtake without using feints.

Vettel was in his own league yesterday. Got ahead of Lewis at turn 1 and then executed flawless race with good pace. Re: 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
I suspect both Merc. and Ferrari have already decided to designate No.1 and No. 2 drivers in view of the way Kimi let Seb by easily, and Bottas did the same for Lewis twice during the race. Top teams keep offering seats to Alonso but I doubt they want the turmoil that comes with signing him. Alonso requires a team that treats him like the king he thinks he is.
