If you're not aware F1A also includes a very hand on programme called Discover Your Drive initiative putting on dedicated events for young female karters and supporting ones that want to progress. This in turn feeds into the Champions Of The Future programme. At the same time Jamie Chadwick has laun...

Re: Silly Season 2025
I'm hoping a knock on effect of Bearmans impressive stand in, is that teams are more open to taking a punt on new talent rather than sticking with safe , but frankly uninspiring old hands. I do understand, even 1 extra point gained from a driver having experience means they would take them. From a f...

Re: Saving F1
The teams are assets in themselves now. Gone are the days they were a bottomless money pit. The Mercedes F1 team costs Mercedes nothing. The pressure of "race on Sunday, sell on Monday" is no more. Never heard that expression, I will remember that, nice one  possibly coined by Harvey Fires...

Meanwhile the unpredictable career of "prodigy" Juju Noda continues as in 2024 she will compete in both Super Formula and BOSS GP! That's some serious machinery. I haven't watched the fist Super Formula race. Noda finished 17th. In 18th and and 19th were Theo Pourchaire and Kamui Kobayashi! I don't...

Re: Female Racing Drivers
Ok well you've explained that better most, thank-you. But still... Sponsorship aside the progression through these series is supposed to be merit based. You 'just' need a driver good enough and the backing. Montoya made it to the top and it wasn't because someone said "we need to increase the number...

Re: Female Racing Drivers
As Formula Winter Series is now wrapped I thought I'd do a quick summary of the 4 female drivers that entered. Clearly the series is used for testing/preparation more than as a championship in itself. Well I hope they gained valuable experience as their results weren't great only counting rounds ent...

Re: Female Racing Drivers
Agreed - that was my point, but you made it much more clearly! Worth remembering F1A is run to race time not number of laps, so throw in a safety car or two as they had, and it's vital that the team keeps the driver informed as the race approaches the end.

Plus what was possibly worse, and the part that actually incurred the penalty was that Pin carried on a full lap at racing speed while the pitwall were doing fist bumps. They ended up with a Red Flag - that isn't put out lightly so it's poor that the team didn't address the problem before the the ra...

Can anyone actually see Verstappen at Mercedes with Wolff still there? Stranger Things have happened I guess but really? And if it did, Team Mu...

Re: Hamilton Vs Teammates
Interesting data, thanks. Regarding Russell, I'm curious why the graph looks like George should be ahead, while your conclusion is that Lewis is (quite clearly) ahead? It's a running average so it shows that Russell had the upper hand early on but as his results have dropped off the lines cross and...

Re: Hamilton Vs Teammates
For those with sufficient interest, would it make sense for some interested members to import some various forms of F1 data from a Wikipedia data set (which seems to not exist) or from some other dataset? Or maybe add data to some dataset? A few years ago, I was refreshing on "R" (based on "S"...),...

Re: Hamilton Vs Teammates
Ultimately it's results that count - so that's what I've done, you are of course free to ignore! That's fair enough, just pointing out a significant confounder in the data. What does generate those early spikes in each pairing is early in a season where drivers are classified despite not finishing....

Re: Christian Horner Allegations Thread
The rather tawdry message stuff doesn't interest me, but does anyone know what Jos's problem with Horner is? Assuming there's some substance to all this. I don't recall Horner every treating Max unfairly - arguably the complete opposite so why would Jos want to ruin the win-machine that is Horner/RB...

Re: Hamilton Vs Teammates
I exclude DNf's so they have no impact. That is not strictly true because Hamilton was almost always ahead when either driver suffered poor reliability or crashed out. So actually you are reducing Hamilton's margin. There was 20 DNFs between the pair and Hamilton was ahead when either of their cars...

Re: Hamilton Vs Teammates
The Hamilton vs Button gap is hurt hugely by the distribution of Hamilton's and Button's DNFs. The theme being that Hamilton was almost always ahead when his car failed and Button was almost always behind Hamilton when his car failed. That said, no teammate had enjoyed the consistent advantage Butt...

Re: Female Racing Drivers
I thought Nobels might be heading that way with the F4 entries she has had and the Ferrari backing. Seems appropriate given her age (17) at least. 48 single-seat races so far but no wins/podiums/fastest laps, I'm not seeing much potential from results alone but lets see. Just 2 seats remaining. Sti...

Genuine question, is Max slower during the first 4-6 races of the season or is Perez quicker in this period? I have always thought that Ferrari looked so strong at the start of 2022 (first 4 races) was in part to Max not being his usual self and once he had the big gap to Perez Ferrari never domina...

Maybe, it's confusing. Or it shows that the point score may be skewed by some lucky scores in the odd race (by his fans highlighted as alternative strategy miracles) whereas on average he was worse than his teammates. The point of the running average is that it really only gets skewed early where t...

I think it's interesting to see that the gap between Perex and Max hasn't really changed.
