Red Bull and Mercedes are rumoured to have used up a lot of their budget so far.
I'm all for letting the other teams catch up while they stand still for a while.

Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread
It's not getting better is it.... I don't know what to make of it. I think at this point we pretty much have to accept that what we're seeing is what there is, and Norris is simply a faster driver than Ricciardo. I believe Norris is faster, but at the same time I don't feel like we are seeing Ricca...

Looking forward to seeing the race around this track with the new cars.
Hopefully we have another installment of Verstappen v Leclerc to show us, as I heard Verstappen's long runs were better than the Ferrari's.

DRS trains are not new. These cars are better for racing than the last generation of cars. Porpoising was very much a problem in the old days of ground effect, the term was coined by Mario Andretti in the 70's.
Overall I see 2022 as a big improvement.

Re: Thoughts on Miami then?
I actually think the track is alright. Not amazing, and I think the hype works against it in that respect, but overall an OK track, the super tight section needs a rework though. I have mixed feelings on the surface. On the one hand I don't like that off line seemed to be more treacherous than usual...

The hype is starting to get to me. They seem to be giving the impression that Miami is some sort of world destination on par with Monaco, London, or maybe New York. It's not. Miami is the retirement community of the Midwest. For all its faults, Vegas is ten times as glamorous. I know what you mean....

Regarding what Fabregas said, the Spanish translation apparently is a change of drivers from the same team, to me we may see Red Bull drivers as being the same team they just have more teams, a driver swap between Gasly and Albon. With Perez performing well it's looking unlikely that Gasly will get...

Isolation restrictions are not what I'm talking about. I agree they'll be dropped in time. What I'm interested in is are they actually testing everyone all the time as they once were? Or are they only testing people now inline with entry requirements? If they visited a country where you need not pr...

Whatever you do Gasly do not overtake Albon Exactly he was obviously so much faster than Albon but needed the DRS to stop any progress for Hamilton, there's still a fear that Mercedes might bounce back, this is the inter team collusion I wonder about. I call that a racing incident, where could Ricciardo go after being squeezed by Sainz, you've got to factor in the track conditions. He was left plenty of space. Got on the curb and understeered into Sainz. Completely Ricciardo's fault, but first lap, first corner incidents regularly get chalked up...

They should remove DRS for tomorrow. This was my issue last year too. Quali pace is not always representative of race pace so even without a wet quali mixing things up, quali often put the odd car out of position which makes for good TV on a Sunday All this race is doing is move Perez and Sainz, th...

I think the engine is a part of it, as well as the concept being quite aggressive. They will get ontop of the car eventually no doubt, but the longer they take the more time Red Bull and Ferrari have to develop their own concepts. Interestingly Steiner said Haas initially went with the no sidepod co...

Unpopular opinion but I'm not a massive fan of COTA. That's not to say I dislike it, it's a fine track and produces some good races, but it has a sort of hollow feel to it that I can't put my finger on. It might just be that it's a new circuit and so has no history, which it obviously will with time...

Yes, still no negative test. Vettel could be in trouble. Some people are positive for 3 months. So, are F1 demanding that you get negative results, regardless of how long it's been since the first positive? I work in a school (England) and tested positive on Monday this week. Max's wing I assume is the smaller one. The interesting bit is the side panel how it cuts earlier to the main beam so its like a mini DRS to the end elements. Could be the angle of the photo though. They're probably trying high/low down force for comparison. I'm sure if the smaller wing is faster o...

I think Max, and all the other drivers, will push the limits of these guidelines this year. If the FIA actually have the bottle to come down hard on it, then he will adapt. The wording of the guidelines I've seen doesn't seem all that different to the wording that was there before, which is fine, bu...
