Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Not denying Vettel lost more points to reliability, but 14 more points than Hamilton is hardly disproportionate, could've been even less if we explore how Hamilton's radio issues in Hungary negatively impacted his race (his ability to explore a more optimal strategy with the team). I seem to recall ...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Buxton in particular, had made it clear throughout 2017, that he felt the SF70H was a better all round car than the W08- so Buxton agreeing Hamilton would win in what he thought was the better car, would certainly fit. I just don't think it's as cut and dry as you portray it to be. I don't think th...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

I am obviously commenting post-fact, and with all that happened we now know that Vettel could not have won the 2017 title. Neither could have Hamilton if he were driving the 2017 Ferrari. A title challenge that doesn't even mathematically go to the last two races is not really a title challenge. Fo...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

There was a challenge, sure - but there was no chance anyone except a Merc driver would have won the title that year, as the Ferrari failed massively on reliability and strategy. For 2018 I think Hamilton would have won the title in either car, but in 2017 there was always going to be only one winn...

As part of the 2017-2018 Merc v Ferrari threads, the AMuS Power Rankings were often a useful source of reference. I thought it would be interesting to include them in the current discussions. Here's the rankings for the first 4 races and which car performance they rated best. Bahrain-Red Bull https:...

Four races so far, and the Merc had the faster car in 3 of them, with Bahrain being too close to call. In the end, it hinges on how big a gap there actually is between the two. Is it a la Hamilton-Vettel', Hamilton-Rosberg? Schumacher is a good driver, but as many people have said, he's never had a WDC as his team mate , and after coming back from retirement, and once paired with Rosberg, he lost. He's also had a few dubious moments like parking his car, ramming into others, and so on. If you ask me, I would rate Senn...
