The Peroni F3 Accident was SCARY!

Here's the slo-mo of the Peroni flight during the F3 race. http://www.espn.co.uk/video/clip?id=27557450 A question... What was that 20-feet of sausage curbing doing all by its lonesome on the curve? Looks beyond ancient and should have been removed long ago. And a Comment... Looks like the Halo did ...

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa

Let's be fair here, the stewards say that from some angles, including one from above, it looks like part of the tyre may have been over the white line. The rules state that the car has to be in contact with the track, they ignored the camera angles that showed that the car wasn't in contact with th...

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa

My wife, who doesn't follow F1 and couldn't tell a Ferrari from a Trabant, watched the replay a couple times as I did. Even she understood, commenting "Yea, he's on the other side of the white line for sure. You can see the dark track between the front wheel and his tire."

Re: 2019 Italian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa

And why haven't they deleted Vettel's time? He clearly had all 4 wheels off at the parabolica. They made a point of informing everyone that if you did that; not only would your lap be invalidated but the next lap would be invalidated too. Why have they let his time stand? Here Mate...Vettel has bee...

Re: The accident aftermath & Eau Rouge / Radillon

T-bone accidents will always be the worst. Track configuration cannot address this. We are looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I remember the 60's and 70' when we lost a couple drivers every year (minimum). Racing is so much safer today, that it sometimes convinces drivers to pus...

24 races is too many.
22 races is too many.
20 races is too many.

There's nothing but greed on display here...

Re: Verstappen / Kimi turn one collision

I've read countless times through the years, how a driver, seeing (or not seeing) a driver next to hiim, feels entitled to take his normal apex at a corner because he was well ahead at turn in. All this "making room" argument is bullocks, triggered by VER brake-testing himself into a debatable posit...

Re: How good was Stirling Moss?

I was fortunate to have grown up in era of Moss and Fangio and while few races were televised, I read every magazine article on F1 that I could get my hands on...lived for the Rob Walker articles and watched whatever races I could, including hours of watching Wide World of Sports on Saturdays for t...

Yup, Bottas drives for Mercedes for 2020... https://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/27 ... cedes-2020

On to the next silly season furball...

Re: How good was Stirling Moss?

I think these comparisons between today and 68 years ago are pretty worthless. For instance... Ascari’s 2:05.7 pole time at Monza in 1952 has no relevance to Hamilton’s 1:19.2 pole in 2018. Not a single race among the 7 in 1950 finished under the 2-hour limit used today (closer to 3 hours in most ca...

I think statistics take precedence. A 4-time world Champion has to be considered among the greats.

I don't think Vettel would do well in a Mercedes tuned for years to suit Hamilton.

I don't see Albon doing well until he adjusts to the car. Could be 2-3 races. Could be never.

F1 is as much a technology game as a racing game. Always has been. "Close Racing" is just coincidental.

Re: Should Bottas contract be extended?

Bottas is the entity the team knows, while Ocon is not, in the sense that he has not raced in the current car, or raced in general for more than a year. It makes only logical sense to keep Bottas.
