Re: 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread
If you are giving away the position, you must take to one side of the track or the other, so the overtaking driver clearly knows what you are doing. Hogging the middle of a narrow track says in effect, "I'll let you by, but you'll have to figure out how" is NOT yielding the position. Such gamesmansh...

Re: Will the FIA step up. A possible championship permintation.
The crash at Monza was pure red mist for me. Verstappen had no intention of making it through turn 2. Hamilton leaving a small gap gave Max the plausible deniability of what seemed to me like pure road rage. That's the reason Red Bull and Horner were so sheepish after the race. Now there is a big d...

On a similar note, is terms of the quality of the drivers and performances, is this the best quality title fight ever? Alonso V Schumacher in 2006 was very intense. Ah yes good shout. The Prost vs Senna years were my other thoughts but I don’t know enough about those. Also a different dynamic when ...

Why dont they just give max checo’s wing? Or is it not the same spec? Because yesterday in FP2, PER's wing was flapping more than VER's today. RB have a fundamental structural problem with this assembly, and they will need to fix it immediately before Q1 begins, else either car showing movement in ...

Toto said in his interview after the race that the stewards could cut the wing into pieces and throw it away, for all he's concerned. So it doesn't sound like Merc are clammoring to get it back.

I think the real question is... When was the last time Verstappen took an engine? I think he is beyond due for a change? Russia I assume when he took the grid penalty. It isn’t clear which of his original three engines are still in use. The Silverstone one obviously won’t be but not sure on the oth...

This development is quite silly, considering that VER's Red Bull rear wing has sported layers of silver duct tape at the last race. How the use of duct tape on such a critical movable part passes the rules inspection defies explanation, IMO.

What tv channel in the US has FP3 and quali, now that ESPN has chosen to air college football all day?
ESPN has touted throughout FP1 and FP2 how F1 has become soooo popular in the US.. Then they pull a stunt like this.

I feel like it would have benefited from being a 2 part documentary, or even more. It felt very brief, despite being 2 hours long. A lot was glossed over, or ommited entirely. In the 60s-80s, privateer teams were able to climb up the grid, because they were permitted to innovate with inventive, revolutionary changes... the advent of wings, fan cars, ground effect tunnels, turbos, six-wheeled cars, electronically-controlled suspensions, etc. Today, F1 is as close...

I liked the 60s, too, but the prospect of anticipating who would die next put me off at times.

Sprint race makes the normal Q1/Q2/Q3 redundant, and in this case, irrelevant. For anyone to win Quali, only to be shuffled following the sprint race, makes normal qualifying pointless. Back on topic... While I think Sunday's collision was just a unintentional racing accident, I remind myself of the accidents between Prost and Senna (1989-1990), which were clearly deliberate. IMO, this is the limit on how far it could get. Hamilton has said that he will no longer yield to Verstappe...

There was a time when F1 drivers didn't need to anticipate a long career, as a good number of them died early at the wheel. With the (welcomed) focus on safety in the 70's and 80's, drivers could think about racing til they were in their thirties... thinking about retiring rather than dying. This co...

I don't buy the debris on track explanation. TV coverage of Stroll's car on the flatbed showed that the sidewall had separated at least 40% of the way round the tire at/near tread line. I can't see how such comprehensive damage can be caused by debris not visible on TV. And Pirelli's contention that...
