Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen
Now with race pace I wonder exactly how you measure that, AMuS has it 7-2 in favour of Red Bull although there's no actual timed difference given with that. And I have it at 4.5-4.5 between the two cars at the end of 9 races - not sure what that's supposed to prove? End of the day it is an opinion ...

Re: Did Alpine make a mistake extending Ocon's contract?
Ocon hasn't suddenly become a bad driver. In a similar vein, I don't think that McLaren made a mistake in signing Ricciardo. Question is - was he ever that good in the first place? Certainly not to be on a 3 year contract, I would think - especially when the likes of Gasly might soon be available.

Re: Did Alpine make a mistake extending Ocon's contract?
Im not sure how anyone can rate alonso over hamilton given hamilton showed him up in 2007. Even if you argue alonso got 30 per cent better from 07 to his heroic ferrari efforts, i think hamilton has improved by 50 plus per cent from his 07 season. I absolutely think alonso and hamilton a very close...

Re: Uncharacteristic errors from Hamilton and Verstappen
As far as I am concerned, you can remove the "and Verstappen" from the title of this thread. Any Verstappen mistakes so far this season have been negligible both in terms of severity and impact. He's ran wide on a few occasions, track limits here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary. The bigg...

If it’s an onboard or nothing / assuming - I take the onboard. What lap is that image even on? It’s just guess work. Rather than looking at evidence and coming to a conclusion, you are trying to find evidence to support the conclusion you have already arrived at. I take it you don't understand the ...

Re: Did Alpine make a mistake extending Ocon's contract?
I have been thinking the exact same thing as OP - they should have just waited until the summer break at least before renewing the contract, and not done anything more than 2 years at Max. Ocon is being made to look decidedly average by Alonso as he gets up to speed, unlike the future superstar Alpi...

Yeah well spotted, that must've been it. It was before his first stop and isn’t the lap 48 thing. The gap to Bottas reduced pretty much immediately after the stop which was around lap 30 from memory. Plus I think the clip referred to is turn one, the damage was sustained at turn 10. Yeah we have to...

I did assume he must have gone wide and damaged the car, but his onboard was posted on Reddit. Re: The Great Big 2021 A > B > C Thread
The system you look for is not measuring actual speed, there is a kind of I hope it all evens itself out, last time out Stroll was only partially to blame for not being able to set a lap time, his second and last lap he had to abort because of a red flag. I always thought the bottom line here is to measure speed, the idea that Vettel can be considered about 3 tenths quicker than Stroll is clearly false. By counting the 2 sessions were Stroll did not set a time on both occasions you are basically defaulting Vettel to be 6 tenths quicker both times. I...

I stand by what I say. With this year's(2021) RedBull, LEC or HAM would have scored more poles than VER achieved. It is a much better car than what people wants us to believe. The thread says "fastest" or if you prefer, peaks in terms of speed. I would swap cars tomorrow morning if I was HAM. After...

Verstappen. Hamilton. Norris. Gasly. Vettel. Alonso. Sainz. Giovinazzi. Russell. Schumacher. A lot of it pretty much reflects Sundays finishing order - and I really don't have much to add to that! Re: 2021 Red Bull vs 2017 and 2018 Ferrari
I would rate it (so far) as 2018 > 2017 >= 2021 - it is the quality of the drivers and the pitwall/strategy team that is making the difference.
Also feel that while Binotto (unlike Arrivabene) gets flustered easily, Horner is a master at fairy cakes and gets under Wolff's skin.

Another close race - this is great for the neutrals! While it seemed like the Merc was the faster race car, their poor strategy with Hamilton (and complete #2 treatment of Bottas) meant they came away with a 2-4 finish instead of the likely 1-3. Anyway, the result was close enough for me to split th...

Hypothetically, if Mercedes invented a teleporter that teleported 200kg of ballast onto their car when it entered the pitlane and 200kg off of the car when it left the pitlane - and there was no way to test the car for if it had had ballast teleported on and off - would this make the minimum weight...
