Re: V-6 Engines Lowering Costs? Nope.
Just a few thoughts that everyone ought to bear in mind when thinking about V6/V8/V10 past versus present: 1. The engine manufacturers are only interested in power units that provide a technological "halo" for marketing, even if there's very little to transfer directly to road cars. The days of norm...

I admit, it's the best part of 20 years since I traveled the length and breadth of Japan on business and over 10 years since I did any proper business with them in Europe. Believe me, honour and face are very important in Japanese culture, you don't say no but instead say that an idea is interesting...

Re: Anyone fed up with the amount of criticism Maldonado get
Maldonado had a crash free weekend in Japan. Yay! His immense talent is finally manifesting itself as he dodged here, slid there, to avoid everyone who was trying to take him out. He even managed to finish close behind Grojean without rear ending his team mate or making a suicide dive to overtake an...

Re: Ron, Fernando and Jenson working together and clever ?
Alonso's comments on Sunday were fascinating, if indeed as per all the original rumours at the time, Ron had Fernando forcibly inserted where the sun don't shine at the insistence of Honda. Whatever the back story, it does seem that Alonso is more than happy to become persona non-grata with Honda an...

Weighing the driver without the car is a pretty pointless exercise. They know quite accurately how much Vettel weighs and that cannot change that much. .......................... Pretty pointless having a weigh in for anyone then. I wonder why they bother. It was a myth. Another thing thrown at Sch...

Re: Did Vettel Miss Post-race Weighing at Spa?
The simple answer is ususally the way it will work. If the car is in 1000 bits the stewards will work on the assumption that car weight was okay but will still want to weigh the driver. If the driver is badly injured but the car is okay, they will weigh the car but not insist on weighing the driver ...

Jenson Button was lucky Honda did leave the sport and didn't have to put their engine in his 2009's car.. The Brawn was so good aerodynamically that it would have won the WCC with an engine from a Foden tractor. Re: Alonso can get-out of McLaren if he wants.
I confidently predict that Alonso will spend another dismal season at McLaren then buy his way into another team using sponsor money as per his previous moves. The Honda power unit will then come good with the 2017 rule changes, the McLaren will become dominant and Alonso will have completed his rec...

" A huge off at Eau Rouge " (as per Lotus) doesn't qualify as using a lot of kerb. It strikes me that the relationship is no longer on firm ground, if it ever was. Maldonado was saying the team were investigating, they've hung him out to dry and put the blame on him. He's in Perez at McLaren territo...

So now we learn now that Pastor's "bad luck" at Spa was his own fault - he bust the car. Again. That's on top of wiping out the front end of the car in free practice. You'd think that he might have taken some learning from his Hungarian debacle but sadly not. Maldonado doesn't have bad luck. He just...

Cadence braking is as old as the hills. Because it's effect is almost exclusively on the front axle I can't see any reason why it should be ruled out by either brake by wire or energy harvesting. That's so long as the teams have managed to give the drivers some artificial feel in the pedal. Good dri...

Rosberg is advertised as a thinker, not a racer which explains why he did okay last year by digesting Hamilton's data but never managed to get past him on the track. A couple of times he was actually scared off the tarmac by the sight of number 44 in his mirrors. But in my mind, the Hungary decision...

IIRC, Hamilton wasn't happy with the brakes for his first season at Mercedes and in the end they changed supplier to give him the feel and performance he needed. In fact, at some point during the second season he and Nico had different brake materials.

F1 isn't too slow. It was too fast in the days when they had hay bales and trees instead of tyre walls and big whoopee cushions, deep gravel traps instead of run-off areas you could land a small plane on. F1 is just too technical and not dependent enough on driver skill. Hence why state oil company ...
