Re: Will teams protest Lotus DDRS if it is good?
Can I also ask for 'clarification' here from someone who understands the rule better than I? How can a bypass of any description be legal? 'At x speed (due I assume to air flow in a tunnel) air is 'redirected' to a different path. How is this not construed as 'movable aero'? There must be some sort ...

Re: Will teams protest Lotus DDRS if it is good?
Any new gizmo that gives one team an advantage will always be protested in some way (and should be) Often it will be in the form of asking for 'clarification of the rule' There is an off chance the teams protesting can gleen some information form it, to use themselves, and of course there is the cha...

Re: Attitudes towards Speeding
The whole thing is a can of worms. (in UK motorway speed is 70 mph 'side roads' 30 mph) I see a good condition motorway as safe at 'several' mph over the limit, but many side streets 10 mph or mph or more too fast. Most people, driving instructors in particular, lose sight of the fact that a limit i...

Re: Should McLaren ask Jenson to rear-gun for Lewis?
At the end of the season, its not just how many points you have, but also how many others have. Each point Button gets he takes from someone else. If it is the competition, fine. If it is a team mate with a better chance, then I think he should, and would, concede. Dont forget, something could happe...

Re: Hamilton is pretty much on equal points with Webber and
problem is still poor race pace from mclaren. They had huge quali advantage which translated to narrow if not on par race advantage. They lose too much time to managing the tryes. I see Mclarren's weakness as strategy, not the current car. Had Hamilton followed the pit call immediately, as Button d...

Ferrari are big on 'image', to bring back a driver they sacked mid contract would be admitting it was their car at fault, not the driver. Not on.

Re: How well would an F1 car perform on ovals/drag strips
As I said above, I know little (or less) about oval racing, but had some thoughts which maybe someone who does know can discuss for me. Points I would like to know the effect of. Acceleration, Fuel, Tyres, Brakes, Rev limit It seems a F1 car would be half way around the lap when the oval racer is ex...

Re: Blue flag rule revisited
I want to make the point. The blur flag rule is not 3 corners. It is 3 consecutive waved blue flags to incure a penalty. Correct to clarify this. Also, blue flags have always been part of F1, it means you are being overhalled by a faster car, not necessarily a car lapping you, so take care not to o...

Re: Redbull at it again?
If the problem is that a setting can be altered (under restricted conditions or not) without a tool, why would a mechanic be 'seen hiding' a tool in a rag? My thoughts, getting around the rules is what F1 does. Deliberately doing something that is set in stone, like parc ferme rules is something els...

Re: How well would an F1 car perform on ovals/drag strips
Ovals: Indycars go up to 240mph/388kph where an F1 car tops out at around 220mph/340kph. Too big a difference to overcome. If you put an indycar engine in a F1 chassis though, the Indycars will be nowhere. Drag strips: Against which cars? Any decent drag car will leave an F1 car in it's dust. F1 ca...

Blue flag rule revisited
The todo with Hamilton unlapping himself, once again shows up the 'Blue flag rules'. It is also apparent that is hampering the tail end and even lower mid field cars far more than at first thoughts. As I have said before, and got scragged for, the blue flag rule that says jump out of the way is ridi...

Re: Would you like Schumacher to remain in F1 for one more y
Not a 'simple question' Or rather not a simple answer from me I did not like him when he was sweeping the board, but I did consider him as the best. I did not want him to come back and destroy the legend. He came back and has been an 'also ran'. Not a bad record if he had not previously been a super...

The difference is that the copy is not authentic. By your own accord, I take it you feel a Cobra Kit car is that same as a genuine Carroll Shelby 427 Side Oil Cobra or any other kit car is just as good as the real thing. If somewhere down the line these guys find themselves in dire straights, they ...

A trophy is just a chunk of metal or glass. It has no soul no character no individuality, so what does it matter who gets the original and who the copy, provided they are identical and made by the same craftsman. If the terms and conditions of employment say you get a copy, so what? It is only a sym...

Re: what do you think of alonso?
Not a big Alonso fan, but anyone with eyes has to say he is the stand out driver this year. This in probability because the current regs, tires in particular, suit his style and mindset. If the tire spec changes, or even if he gets a team mate that annoys him, things could change, but this year he d...

I think Perez will inherit a win from being in the right place at the right time. It may well be in a curtailed race where it does not go the distance, or where an incident near the end takes out cars infront of him. No reflection on him, but I dont think his car has it in a straight fight.
