Re: Honda Redbull

My gut instinct as to whether redbull will change to Honda is simply if they want to keep Ricciado or not. For a top driver who is potentially in demand for more than one top team, it'll have to be a pretty Steller pitch by redbull and Honda to keep him there. But then again, the pitch worked on Al...

Re: Silly Season 2019

Remember that the teammate does a considerable amount towards car set up.
Each driver has just the 3 sessions and limited tyres, and needs to keep an eve on engine miles.

I doubt any driver wants a 'no hope' in the other car.

Re: Silly Season 2019

I don't believe it will happen. But I am rooting for Hamilton going to Ferrari alongside Vettel. That would be a dream for racing fans! I think that is a no go on several fronts. Ferrari has traditionally backed a lead driver and a sub. Lewis and Seb would take too many points off each other and a ...

Re: 2018 Monaco Grand Prix Race Thread

Personally I can see Verstappen getting a podium, I seriously tempted to put a fiver on it at 400-1! I can see Verstappen getting frustrated behind a slower car and going for a gap that doesn't exist. Thus wiping out his team mates 10 second lead. I feel this too. No point trying to build a buffer,...

Just to liven the show, they could have 'safety tyres' that run at lower speeds and allow the original set in use to be warmed until notice the safety car is coming it. Its probably for wet weather, because the ERS harvesting light and the wet weather lights use the same light which is far from ideal. It's probably just to look cool as f*ck in night races. An idea I'm fully supportive of. Let's LED these bad-boys. Yip, in keeping with the new Liberty entertainment...

I'd be in favour of stopping the race. I've no idea why they all drive around at a snails pace behind a safety car, when they might as well just stop. Either a VSC/FCY or throw a red flag. Everyone comes into the pits (parc ferme unless proven damage), the marshals can clear all the debris in perfe...

The safety car is needed for erm, safety. Its not the car thats the problem its the tyres. Why do tyres have to be melting to work? OK, it may loose a second a lap for the year its introduced, but tyres really need a rethink from the ground up

The safety car has to be out long enough to 'bunch' the field so there is a working space, then long enough to release lapped cars. The minimum time is always going to be several laps, and more so as the race distance progresses.

Shown in the post race interview, I think filmed while the podium was on, the interviewer asked Kimi how the mechanic was and he replied 'I don't know'. He was changed into his civvies and in the back of the pit area.
I thought it strange that he had neither found out or been told.

A minimum pitstop time seems difficult to implement from the teams' point of view. I would dread the day someone gets a penalty for a 3.9sec pitstop.
